It has always been in my mind our country had only produced 1 well know porn star (Annabel Chong). It seems like we have more local produced stars in the X-rated industry afterall.

I wonder if there'll be more locals finding fame and joining the less talk about industry.

didn't knew she exists! :sweatsm:

Looks like selective local media coverage. I'm sure there're tons of others here working in this industry, but it seems like only when they die or caused an explosive stir, then they get into the news.

hahahaha... didn't know Singapore has got another porn star besides Anabelle Chong... now that's something

wonder how many more does Singapore has

Honestly?? plenty... esp those who didn't know they became one in the first place. Remember the JC girl scandals previously... Esp Tammy.

she is soft porn , i think.. based on newspaper reports.

every country has its fair share of porn stars... but few are as loud as annabel chong in terms of publicity.. :D

well, if nothing unusual happened, how could it become news?

I think it's because her feat (Annabel) is hard to beat by another Singaporean. If there's an association for porn, probably she'll earn the title fellowship for her contribution... :bsmilie:

Anyway, I think the media is shutting up on things that make the place look bad from the conventional sense. I can only hope the media here can catch up like those in Europe or US. A few paparazzi doesn't hurt, neither does straight talk, uncensored reportage and journalism. :)

She is Singapore born and raised but does she hold a Singapore passport or even a Singaporean now ?

The Straight Times should make up its mind whether it wants to be a broadsheet, or a tabloid. It was Hari Raya and this porn star article occupied most of the centre page.

1) She's not a real porn star.
2) She's not Singaporean.

Singapore really got nothing to talk about, meh? What's next? Fann Wong's wedding on front page? (Probably!)

I don't think so. That's why they report it as 'born and raised in Singapore', my best guess is that is was a defensive play of words in reporting techniques in that rather to say something like 'she was an ex-Singaporean'. Although it only left the reader more confused. :)

A broadsheet that isn't that broad isn't it. :bsmilie:

I asked the question as I find it odd that a born and raised in Singapore soft porn actress who was killed in the USA made it to the front page.

Hopefully The Straits Times will rename itself to The STOMP Times.

Thanks.

maybe ST wanted to get more readership so they publish crap in the papers.

I think ST is facing lots of competition within it's on media (print) and outside it's traditional media. Maybe they can have a section like 'Life' entitled 'Stompers Rulez' :bsmilie:

Maybe can STOMP why the death of a born and raised Singapore porn star became frontpage news of the national newspaper during the Hari Raya, a national holiday. :bsmilie:

I understand what you mean. Usually holidays not enough advertisers, save the reportage for the normal days, keep the paper thin and splash some juice. That's the tatic.

Recently, I noticed that the english standards for the paper is getting poorer. A couple of news reporters' report are near unreadable and they are on page 2.

An example, 2 subjects in the first clause of a sentence, 1 event description on the second. In the second clause, there's no reference to which subject committed the event.

(eg. John and Tom were there, he flew his plane across the islands).

Articles like that really turn me off, it wasted my time trying to figure out who did what. How can the Editor pass this for print right.

But then again, expectations on standards aside, I guess the folks are having some major cost savings initiatives which lead to decrease in actual quality. :embrass:

that one not from NYP? or Ngee Ann? or after poly go JC already?
