Hi,
I am interested in doing Jewellery photo mainly and other products for table shots. I need suggestion on light tent and table top to buy for product photo shoots. Where does one buy them and how much would they typically cost?

Light tent, a small size one, usually cost S$30 to S$40. I bought mine at Ruby for S$30, a 75cm3 tent with white, black, blue and red background.

As for lights, I also bought mine at Ruby a pair which cost S$250. The photo lamp they supplied is very warm, so you need to adjust White Balance. I went to bought 2x Philip energy saving (Cool Daylight) bulb, those 18W transformed to 100W at lower heat temp, produced good results, this time, my WB set to Auto. All shot in RAW.

So at least the setup is around S$300.

Thank you for your post. This was useful info since I have a similar request. I wanted to know - where is this Ruby Shop in Singapore? And do I need 3 lights - 2 for the side, one on the top? or only 2 are good enough. Could you also PMed the information that you sent out to photographix75 if you think this is useful. Thanks

Thanks. Great sites. I think the light tent is quite inexpensive. I need to be sure I have the righ lights - height, wattage etc.

Just noticed this thread again...

Ruby is at Peninsula Plaza, where the hotel is. 3 lights more than enough, unless you re shooting full size manniquinn or full portrait.
