Hi all

Has anyone any data recovery services to recommend to restore images on CF card? What's the time for them to give a quote? My CF card cannot be read, I think the card reader is faulty causing some damage to two CF cards in one day. (!!!)

Am not gonna try to DIY the thing, rather send it out but need something fast and preferably not too expensive. Thanks in advance. :)

Ok, just for the benefit of someone else who might be caught in the same situation as me - ie CF card unrecognizable by computer, data corrupted, Error 99, please reformat the card, reformat failed, verification failed etc (when Recuva and stuff also fails):

1) Kroll Ontrack (@ International Business Park) - 1 800 8722599
2) Data Savers (Suntec) - 6492241
3) ITS (@ Ubi) - 67461909
4) Adroit (@ Science Park Drive) - 677392177 >> quotation is chargeable
5) JS Data Recovery (@ Bukit Batok) - 98554223

There's a range of services available for all types of flash media recovery based on the urgency of your job. All provide free quotations except Adroit, which charges a minimum of $50 if you chose not to recover with them.

Here's some other advice which I found on the web. I think it makes a lot of sense based on my experience so I'm adding it as a public service to the photographic community.

(under poster 'John Grooms' in the thread - http://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Extre...ts=1&colid=&sortBy=bySubmissionDateDescending)

This is from a guy who is a regular- heavy user of CF cards, using Canon 50D.

Mine recovered by Data Savers... I think their number is wrong coz only 7 digits:bsmilie:.. can be found at www.datasavers.com.sg ..

Ah .. ok. I didn't contact them, just pulled the info from the web. How was the service - what did they recover and price-wise .. ? Here's the updated list again with the number from the official website then.

Data Savers quoted be between 100 - 500 for my CF card data recovery. Quoted me officially 300 in the end.. I would say for guy service technical engineers, they provide a great customer service level.. Better than some restaurants.. give me black face when ordering my food..:what:

i dont understand why you wouldn't want to try the recovery software that comes with it? you will be surprise at how effective it is.

Let me share my experience on this issue.

In my recent case, I did use the recovery software. FYI I use Lexar Professional UDMA 8GB CF card and it did not come with the software when I bought the card. Eventually I have no choice but to purchase online their recovery software.

In the end the software did not help to "rescue" all my images at all. So I think , for me, I have to send the card to recovery center and hope with their hgh-end expertise, they will able to recover all the images in my card.

There are plenty of tools to recover data from CF cards. Just Search the forum. With a little bit knowledge it is fairly easy, most software comes with a guide. If you know already that the CF card reader is the culprit then go and get a new one or borrow one from a friend where you know it's working well. Even without recovery software it's possible to recover files.
It's the most cost efficient way (some software comes free), it's the fastest way (you see the results immediately).

I have only experienced ITS service, even though it's not CF-related, notebook HD failure only. 2 days before xmas, went down to them they managed to do it overnite for me.

In fact, till X'mas eve, many other customers were asking him to recover their data.

My data was recovered 100% from the old harddisk to the new harddisk which I supplied.

Cost wise, about $360, but worth every penny cos got my work and masters project work.

HTH. Cheers!

I can definately recommend this service, they could recover all my pictures, although there seemed to be no hope to save them.data recovery service to recommend
