Hi snappers,

have done some research on lens that I'm going to get but would need some advise or correction if I'm wrong!

Sigma 120-300mm 2.8..... Walkabout lens with good range (19cm) and on top of that, this unit should still have allowance for 1.4x or 2.0x convertor?

Sigma 50-150 2.8...... Just because of the 2.8 and range is just nice for the next lens suggestion!

Tamron 17-50 2.8

tokina 11-16 2.8...... Pretty much good reviews all over!!

As I'm a general snapper, not into birds or macro yet! Streets and events or occation for now, please feel free to drop in ur personal suggestion!

Thanks alot

do u have any idea how expensive the sigma 120-300 is? not to mention the difficulty in finding it locally. :D

it looks like a good lens for sports but the af is not as fast as canon and focusing reliability is an issue with sigma lenses. the coating tends to come off easily as well. i would rather sink my money into a 70-200 f/2.8 IS. even though at the extreme tele end it comes short, but there is IS, USM and i can fine tune any misfocus with my camera body. i can always put on a 1.4 converter.

Great advise bro! Exactly what I need for advise before buying!

2x tc is also quite ok on a f2.8 right?

Thanks alot

yeah but it does make your lens a f/5.6 aperture. focusing could be slower for your camera.

Bro, you mention slower , does it mean it's slower because of the 2x tc or it's just slower in general even when you shoot a normal f5.6 lens without tc??

Thanks alot

Hi bros, I also understand that the sigma has a 70-200 lens with macro while the canon's 70-200 do not have macro! Anyone knows the pros and cons of lens with a added function?

Thanks alot

allows to focus alot close for a somewhat macro magnification. but i suspect its not as much as a true macro lens. u need to look at the magnification.

i don't find it important for a telephoto lens because i want the lens to af fast for the things i use it for. i normally set the 70-200 f/4 lens at 3m focus limiter.

Eh.... Bro, what's the limiter for and how do u do the setting ??

u limit the af to work btw 3m to infinity. so it doesnt hunt from mfd to infinity. makes it faster when u focus on something. it is a switch on the lens.

Oh there is such a switch.... Havent own that lens yet so dunno there is such a switch.

Its interesting advise though.

Thanks alot
