I have a standard zoom lens and a 50mm prime lens. Now have a bit of budget but don't know whether to get UWA, or telephoto zoom or macro lens.

Budget not very high, so all the lens that can afford, don't really like them.

Don't get anything since you have no idea what to get. Keep the money

try out by renting , u get a better ideas

cheers

I already tried out the lens, problem is the lens I really want, no enough money to afford, but I want UWA, tele, and macro equally bad, cos I shoot them about equally too.

Decide by using them when u have a chance (borrow from friends or rent) then decide from there...

Ask yourself, wht's your interest?

there must b something tat u enjoy shootin more than anything else.
focus on tat.

or a 16-50 f2.8 len is a decent choice.it's wide for landscape and the f2.8 is good for portraits too.

Hmm i should have listed out the lens I have sorry.

I'm on Canon EOS 50D and have 50mm f2.8 II and 24-105 f4 IS USM now.

Canon has a 16-35 f2.8, it's out of my budget and plus maybe 16 is not wide enough on 1.6x crop.

otherwise, i would just make do with wat i have...

Hi, If you use FF, then go for UWA. Lens be as wide as possible. eg 12mm to 24 mm and you have 122 degree wide at 12mm

EF 16-35mm f2.8 L would no longer be a UWA lens on your 50D... you need a lens like EF-S 10-22mm or Sigma 10-20mm... etc. :bsmilie:

Hmmm maybe I should be contented with what I have now, use 24mm and pan on a tripod then stich together? goot idea?

no money, dont buy.

there is no need to buy things you do not need, just because your fingers itchy.

if your kit lens and 50 prime serving you fine, den stick with it.

spend within your means. "finding ways to get the $$" or even breaking the bank to do so, does not fall into that category.

and my advice will be, work with what yoou have now, and find ways to overcome the limitations of the lens. you will learn MUCH MORE then if you just go out and get. you get instant gratification from BBB, but nothing else. you never know what your lens can do, till you push it to the limits, and overcome limitations with it.

agreed with luntut, make full use of your current set up.

FYI, you will learn MORE only when you have limited gears, cause this is the time you will think MORE, try HARD to work within what you have and what you can do.

Budget not very high? not able to afford the lenses you want? might as well keep the $$ or if you are just itching to buy some stuff, maybe accessories will be able to cure it :)

U can do that, but it's going to be a little troublesome.
Yea, and have to use manual to get the same settings. Then go back computer still have to stich. Sigh.
