this may sound odd but i was trying out the EoS 50D over teh weekend and i realize if i use my left eye to look through the viewfinder my face gets in the way of my right hand adjusting the setting... hahaha just wondering if anybody have this same problem.. i guess have to get used to looking with the right eye

I believe this depends on your comfort level. People with left master eye may rather go with the inconvience. I'm right master eye so i've no issues with it =P. Worst case go buy anglefinder loh. Seagull got new one 3.25x liao.

thanks for the advice.. will have to get used to it... just a hassle i guess

I am a right-hand but I use left eye even for the rifle i used during my NS.
A matter of use to it:D

hahaha i was wondering about this too... but the problem comes when u are left eye dominant and right handed

or wearing an eye patch over the left eye ? ;) just kidding :)

Flip ard the dslr it becomes a left hand one.
;p

i shoot with left eye and right hand.

using my left eye, i dont have to do this

very tiring for left eye.
my whole face just "hide" behind camera.

I'm a right eye and right hand-ed.

I can't use my left eye because for some reason I can only close my left eye. Can't close right eye and open my left without the help of my hands, haha!

I using left eye right hand.... using a third-party eyecu which do extends out so face is not touch the lcd and got space for the hand~

im also left eye right hand.
army time gotta train left hand becoz of this prob also.

using an extended eye cup does help a bit

I'm shooting with left eye, but don't seem to have the problem TS is facing...
I'm guessing becos 450D is smaller than 50D, which means...
OMG! I CAN'T UPGRADE TO FF COS IT'S GON' BE SO BIG!

strange, I thought training the right eye to aim is easier than training a right-hander to use left hand? :dunno: more logical cause if you suddenly have to bring up the rifle to shoot, naturally right-hander brain will instruct the right hand to hold the rifle.

I try to close my right eye to aim briefly then open both eyes to shoot. cause its too tiring to close my left eye, fatigue will affect the zeroing in the end.

for camera, too bad, if I force my left eye to close for the whole shooting, I'll have a headache or fainted later.

thanks for the advice, i guess may have to just get used to it. or a additional eyecap.

It is something to do with the brain. Left and right brain.
Normally people left eye use right hand? I dont know.. maybe.
It depends to the individual yea, individual. :)

I'm a left master eye... and my face is hidden behind my 5D.. but already use to it.. so no issue to me... but my fully block right eye..

I use both eyes, some time left and some time right ;p

I am left eye, right hand.

In the army I aim with right eye also. but I have to shut my left eye.

And now, I get oily LCD all the time.

People who differ from the norm will have to suffer some inconveniences. However, there can be some strange benefits of being left eyed.

For example, Joe McNally, who wrote a few books, is left eyed. He said in his book that he is able to flip his left hand around to hold the camera grip, while propping the camera up with his left shoulder (because the camera is thick as it has a battery grip). So, he can hold his camera stable with only his left hand. This leaves his right hand to hold the off-camera flash... which he can position more freely. This would have been impossible if he were right-eyed. :bsmilie:
