Advice needed -Shooting from inside Singapore Flyer

Canon 500D with kit len 18 to 55mm. Intend to bring my kid to ride the flyer next monday and take some shots. timing is probably around 5.30 onwards

The flyer capsule glass looks "green", will it have problem for taking shots?
Do i need a CPL filter?
Can I use a tripod or no point coz the flyer is always moving?

any other advice for me?

I always advise using a CPL to reduce any reflections caused by the glass. U can use a tripod as the speed of capsule moving's slow enough, unless u're doing long exposure shots.

But do note on using CPLs on your kit lens as the front barrel rotates.

bring CPL, lense hood was incase. if got GND bring too... Check RGB histogram to see with WB is way off or wat in case.

I been up there in the day, and night.

no problems with either. if you get reflections frm the glass, and dun have a CPL, stick your lens as close to the glass as possible for outside shots.

otherwise, just sit back, relax, and enjoy the view.

1st time going to flyer.:embrass:

1) if in doubt about color, shoot in raw, correct WB later.

2) can help.. but to reduce reflections still the best way is to plaster your lens against the glass, and use a small depth of field, and find ways to reduce internal light source from appearing in the picture (usually only problem at night)

3) any shutter speed requiring tripod will result in visible blur unless you shoot very wide. even then, not worth the effort.

The external glass wall is damn dirty. Find a spot which is less dirty and place your lens as near as possible.

I agree on the dirty part, like machiam never maintain, then somemore got so many tourists. Bad impression.

went there yesterday...
realise that the speed of the flyer is pretty fast.....gosh..hard to get sharp image using long exposure...
reflection very strong (went at night..around 7.15pm)... but i didn't use cpl..which will help a bit... i suppose..


all in a ...is a nice experience to c from a high point of view...i spent most time viewing than shooting since it moves fast..haha..
