seh-mern;)

sailor moon

proper pronunciation is sam-mon... that was what i was taught...

I was told "Sa-Mon" with a silent "L"?

phonetics indicate silent "L": ˈsa-mən
(hmmm ... looks dangerously similar to post #7)

Ask for sammon in a restaurant, you'll get a fish.

Ask for summon in a police station, you'll get a fine.

Ask for salmon in a city, you'll be directed to a fish and tackle shop.

Ask for sabun in a shop, you'll handed a piece of soap.

:)

TANK Q, Sir, for the sermon. Now our command of the English language had improved tremendously. Our proficiency level is now "eat across the mountain" (Cantonese -seek gor sun)

is supposedly - suppose-d-ly or suppo-zerd-ly

sounds like everyone reading out loud the latter in quick articulation

saa-men or sar-men w/o the "l"...I used to pronounce it as "sal-men"

...another word that escapes people is "sword".
