Hey, a little help here please.

Hi guys,
Right now i have a passport size photo scanned into my computer.
about 400 by 514 pixels.
i was thinking of collating them and print it onto a 4R size photo ,
e.g. print in harvey norman / photo shops .

how do i do it?

whats the canvas size i sld make in photoshop, in order not to "squeeze" or alter the size of my "passport" size photo when its printed in 4R ?


Dont worry as these photo are not for making passports.
i just want to have it for school work(arg, irritating) , but it have to be ard passport size.
(so i can save bucks and add on to my budget for a better glass )

Here is how I would do it:

1. Scan in the passport size photo using 300dpi or higher. This is to ensure the resolution is enough when printed.
2. In PS, create a 4" x 6" canvas (which correspond to 4R size) by clicking File->New. Ensure the resolution is 300 pixels/inch (or the resolution scanned in step 1).
3. Open the scan pic, copy, and start pasting.
4. Flatten & save.

That's it! Have fun.

when you create a new canvas on photoshop theres premade paper sizes and recomended DPI for each one.. choose 4'x6' which is 4r and paste away...

but,
instead of making 4"x6" canvas ,
i made 15cm by 10cm canvas.
i dunno why when i make 4"x6" canvas, and paste the 411x513 px photo,
it covers half of the 4"x6" =/

but if i use 15cmx10cm, no problem le.. :sweat:

That's usually due to a resolution mismatch. Just make sure that the scanned in resolution matches the resolution of the canvas.

Btw, if you have a color printer you can check it out by printing it before sending to the lab. I used to do the same, printing my own passport size photos for non critical use.

Something to do with your resolution (DPI or PPI)
For example, 4" x 6" at 200 DPI is 800 x 1200, so your 411 x 513 photo would cover approximately half the height and half the width, making it 1/4 of the canvas.

If you set it to 100DPI, it's only 400 x 600 pixels.
