Hi Bros,

Need a little input here. 52mm 0.45x wide angle with macro which i understand that it a attachment to your 18-55mm lens to give you a wide angle and macro. Would like to know the capabilities and limitations of such lens if any and is it worth to spend like $100 on it?

Any 3rd party brand recommendation?

Thanks alot

I would not recommend it on a DSLR for a couple of issues.

1. Unless the WA adapter is real large wrt to the DSLR lens diameter, you will get vignetting when using at widest.
2. As the DSLR lens is large, it will use the non optimal periphery area of the WA attachment. The result is a large loss of sharpness. This can sometimes be remedied by stopping down (A LOT!)
3. The size and weight of a good WA attachment almost like a UWA DSLR lens.

On super compacts or pro-sumers, is where ppl have had much success with WA attachments, as they can usually get away with problems #1,#2.

If you bothered to search on here, you would quickly realize those converters are total and utter rubbish sold by crooks/con men/unscrupulous dealers to total newbies. They *are* the 3rd party brand (usually Vitacon), so how to recommend a 3rd party brand? Those things are not even worth SGD 30. In fact, you would have to *pay me* to shoot with those due to the massive image degradation.

Your 18mm is already wide-angle.

Wow.... Thanks alot for the advise bros. Without all your advises, i would have wasted probably another 100 dollars for nothing. You guys are right im a newbie ( 4 days old to be exact ) and i almost fell into the trap.

Once again, thanks alot for the tip.
