Hi,

Need to seek help from experts out there for the shot I took recently.
Looking at the thumbnail from afar, there is a halo ring on the shot itself. Not sure if this is the so call lens flare?

I had a UV filter attached to my 18-200mm. The shot was taken at 200mm.

Thanks for any replies. :)

Cheers!

i dun think its call a lens flare.. most likely is vignetting effect due to the lens or filter..

Vignetting at 200mm? Not sure how likely that is. Try taking 2 shots of the same thing with and without filter, then see if there is a problem.

It's not due to any filter. I also have this same issue with my 70-300 at 300mm end when i took the NDP aerial displays and it's mainly due to light fall-off at the corners. At lower lighting conditions, this effect is pretty common i would say.

looks like lens flare rather than vignetting because the cranes are still very visible at the corners

What is the best way to take a shot at such conditions? Any advise?
Thanks.

Real freaky man, a white ring around the helicopters. Did you take a photo through a glass window?

Do u actually know the difference between flare and vignet?

admit i'm not expert... so can u explain or u gonna tell me to google... so ur point?

so i correct myself abt it being lens flare... but certaining doesn't look like vignetting.

I'm no expert too, but there's a huge difference between flaring and vignetting. Go figure out. :)

Hi,

See section under vignetting @ 18-200mm
http://www.imaging-resource.com/PRODS/E50D/E50DA.HTM

This is exactly what I have been experiencing although peripheral illumination correction has been enabled.

Any advise from experts out there?

Thanks in advance.

Cheers!
