Urgent help: How to use this Leifheit can opener?

OK, at the risk of sounding stupid, I have a problem opening a can of Campbell's soup with my new (first time using) Leifheit can opener. :embrass:
It is the type that opens from the top and the lid comes off from the top completely without leaving sharp edges. Not the type that you put at the side and turn around.
In theory, I DO know how to operate it... put it horizontally at the top of can and clamp down and turn.
So I have managed to turn one round, but it cut in the middle of the rim instead of under it (which I think it is supposed to) and the lid could not come off.

So now I'm wondering what is wrong. Is it
1) I used it the wrong way and am missing something here.
2) The can opener is faulty (but i think the rest looked the same too)
3) This rim size is too large for it... but I compared with my other cans and it seems quite standard and isn't unusually large or what...
So... what is it man?!! :dunno::dunno::dunno:

Anyone has this can opener, please help...
My food is waiting for the Campbells soup... :cry:

And yes, I have googled all kinds of stuff but could only find sites selling the can opener or other models and general explanations which could not really explain how to work it or what's going wrong here...
I've even tried youtube and watched videos of other models and it all looks easy and I'm doing the same thing... but doesn't work... :dunno::dunno::cry::cry:

Think she got that part right. She managed to cut halfway through the lid!

Wuff, cant the opener slightly downwards at say a 10 - 20 deg angle as you ease the handles close, ensure that the geared teeth grasps the inside of the top of the lid properly, then turn slowly to let the teeth bite while the blade sinks in properly UNDER the RIM of lid.

If you've already damaged either the inside of the top part of the lid, or for whatever reason, it doesn't work for you anymore and either it doesn't cut or the teeth slips, try opening the tin on the other end if it has another rim. If like certain can designs for stacking - no bottom rim, then revert to a conventional opener.

Worse case scenario, refrigerate that can and start with a new one.

Thanks, all... I managed to get it opened already....
Problem was, I did not open it fully just now because part of it was dented (at first used wrongly).
Yah, I did cut at the side of the top lah... not from the top...

Well, a demo is always good but often not available...
Even if you ask also no use because they don't have a demo set or cans... they will just tell you, sorry, we don't do demo here.

Also, if every shop has to do demo on every product, they would be making a loss from manpower cost! It's just not possible.

Really got this version meh? Never seen before leh...

Btw, some time ago, Campbell's was selling this anniversary commemorative set of 4 cans and a mug. I got the set with the black wordings mug and now I want to get the other red wordings one too but can't find it around anymore. I'm hoping some low human volume supermarkets may have some stock left. If anyone sees it anywhere, can let me know please? Thanks so much!

I have used such can opener many times. Not leifhert brand. Works very well. Clean cut. no sharp edges. The top of can that is cut fits exactly back to the rest.
