Anyway, me looking to get Auzzie PR, but the amt of paper work is really screwing me up.
There seemed to be a need to get certification for so many documents..

Anyone can share their experience or recommend a reliable agent ??

yeah...studied the entire webby, download all the pdfs etc to read. LOL, some forums even teaches some tricks to get ur visa faster by applying under a different class. What i want someone to handle it for me and get it right the first time. I think i can get the documents but somehow got the feeling i will miss out on one here and there and delay the entire ( which is already darn slow) process. Certification of my engineering degree also need a lawer, comisionner of oaths etc..

Anyway, have u sat for your IETLS? They only hold it 2 times a month.

Online i've seen 2 webby. It's not cheap, excluding other misc fees ( like IETLS which cost $300, for my cases, engineers australia certification of my degree tat cost $400+), they charge about 2K to settle the stuff for you...I dun really mind paying the $$ ( the $$ spent goes a long way) but really want a efficient, reliable guy who knows what he is doing...and no some half baked folk who dunno what he is doing and keep delaying and delaying till he get it right ( in which case i rather do it myself)

Best if some guy who have gone through the processs who can advise us..

Was at one of those migration agency earlier on this afternoon, the consultation is AUD$80. I am not sure if they are reliable.

you sure IELTS are only held twice a month? the last I checked with the British Council/IDP, they hold it at least once every month, sometimes more. you sure you're not looking at the wrong IELTS component?

by the way, make sure the migration lawyers you guys are looking for are accredited with DIAC. and I wouldn't recommend you going under a different class, only because DIAC is a lot more stringent with their applications now. however, if you apply under a job that is listed in the SOL as a 50/60 pointer, you are more likely to get the PR on a quicker basis. even quicker if you're a nurse or a doctor, but unfortunately you aren't.

the first things I will do first would be my IELTS. without the IELTS, your application wouldn't even be considered. and make sure you score more than 7/10 to get the maximum 10 points given by DIAC.





and PS. because you are (I'm assuming) applying it offshore, yours will take a while REGARDLESS of what scheme you go under. unless again, it's on the critical demands list of the SOL.

Best to check whether your skill, experience and qualifications are what Australia currenctly looks for to make it easier to get accepted. There should be a list somewhere.

yeah the Skilled Occupations List or SOL. Form 1128i I think.

the problem is they are doing it offshore. which can be quite a pain in the ass to do, simply because of the delay in information turn around.

but the original poster said he's coming in as an engineer, and a quick glance on the list shows that engineers are on the SOL so... not too bad there I suppose. but there are a **** load of other criteria as well.

it is now. or maybe it has always been... not sure. but as far as I know, unless you come from one of the home countries (England, Canada, USA), you need IELTS to prove your English competency.

and let's admit it. as an ex British colony, you would think we'd have some concessions for language purposes. but I guess they got scared when they saw Phua Chu Kang appear in the Amazing Race, and hence made IELTS a requirement

The entire application process is pretty straightforward actually, need not go through agent.. afterall, the agent does nothing much for you except to compile the necessary documents. The Agent fee can be expensive too, and in addition to that, the agent will most likely recommend you the lawyer of their choice to certify your documents, which tend to cost more. Download the main application form and all the necessary from DIAC website, the main application form even has a checklist for you to ensure all the necessary documents are in place. Having said, if you feel more comfortable engaging an agent, nothing wrong with it too.

1) Check out the IMMI website - decide which you are eligible for. Please do be honest from the start - do get into trouble by falsifying documents.
2) Go to one of the local agent and pay some $$ to get them go through if not sure. Just to get some info of the basic steps and how they access that might be complicated for some.
3) For my family, we did our own paper work. Applied under Skilled Migration - 175.
4) Get your degree certified by engineering body Australia.
5) The apply for the respective skilled visa - check back the MODL list to see if the skill is needed.
6) Get notary public signature. I just went up to one of the lawyers at Peninsula...A.rohim partners. Make sure all documents are photocopied and arranged for easier referencing.
7) Take IELTS exams. Then Once get Engineers Australia certified + IELTS + FORMS ready, then send in - I did postage - and my friend who applied a yr later did by web. Same process - he got his PR about the same length of wait.
8) Then continue with your normal lives....they will send you a case-file number within 1~2mths - keep this number (email) - mean time if you realise you are short of some docs, you may send to them to append.
9) About 6~10mth later they will ask you to go for medical check-up + police clearance. Submit both and wait.
10) If you get it...within 2~3 mths you will be notified your status.

Then you will get a first landing date. Thats where you need to come over and get the first entry activated.

Which are the documents that need rotary public verification??

1. My degree and transcripts for Australia engineers
2. Photocopy of my IC/Birth cert
3. Do we need to certify the IELTS results?

I can make it on the 175 visa type. Calculate my points to be about 130. Did u submit any employers certification that you work in a occupation under the skills required?

Once we landed there, is there a requirement to stay for any period of time or can i come back to singapore say after a week?

So longest is about 15 months wait?

I never knew IELTS was a requirement...

I may be wrong, but as best as I know, before 2005, Singaporeans were possibly/probably the only Asians who were exempted from IELTS, or maybe most of them were, based on the fact that English is the language of instruction in school, and that it was taught as a first language.

Since 2005, Australia changed her migration laws to apply IELTS over all Asians.

Well, it is obvious that not all Singaporeans speak equally good English.

I got PR before 2005, hence wasn't affected by the mandatory IELTS.

Yes, you are right. The demand for IELTS in Australia has skyrocketed due to the change in migration policy, and is made worse in recent years by the commercialization of immigration (Permanent Residency).

I don't know where your current location is, but if you have been following the news in Australia with regards to education-leading-to-PR, the country is now facing a crisis of scams by unscrupulous private colleges to international students. In addition, the ever increasing passing mark required for IELTS and the compulsory 900 hours of relevant work experience is presents more difficulty and exploitation to students.

I feel sorry for the many international students who are suffering now for their dream of PR, and personally, I know many of them are very worried and stressed about not successfully getting it, hence wasting their time and money.
