A lot of concerns has been posted recently over the (illegal) use of music tracks on websites, photo montages and photo galleries. Seems from recent posts that some were caught using music without a valid license on their sites and had to pay to settle.

Not to worry, I believe it will only be a matter of time before most music becomes free - as in free open source software, free browsers, free web hosts, etc. etc.

But for those who cannot wait, here's a free royalty-free music you can download and use on yr website.

Stock20.com creates high quality music for media production. If you create a free account using my referral link, they will give you one free song. I will also get credit for 1 free song - nifty!

Here's how:

Click this link, then create a free account (it takes about a minute):

Don't forget to download the license agreement for the song you download for confirmation that you can use the music legally on yr website f-o-r-e-v-e-r. Just in case you're approached by some local agents acting for the various music associations.

Good luck !

Thanks for the link! I found what I needed!

You're welcome, m3lv1nh0.

And thank you and all others who signed up for the free song download.

Here's another link. Like I said, in time we will see more and more aspiring songwriters/singers making available their music creations on the web for free downloads and usage on creative common license. One example is the following.

http://www.danosongs.com/

This one has no limits, gives a free royalty-free download every week, provided you credit the songwriter / singer.

Some of you may like danosongs.com but I still prefer the first one.

Aother site http://www.redbeardmusic.com/zen-site/index.php has some really excellent and catchy vocals -- but each song costs US$30 per yr in license fee.. not pricey if you're using it for yr commercial photo-gallery site, considering it costs abt SGD $1k locally (check out COMPASS.ORG.SG - under New Media #3 :- Webcasting of background music in informative websites with no downloads).

COMPASS levies for <= 10 songs per year – S$1,000 per year,
<= 50 songs per year – S$5,000 per year,
> 50 songs per year – S$10,000 per year.

Not clear if the royalty is SGD1k per song or for 10 songs per yr, altho from the context it seems to imply royalty is SGD1k per song.

Cheers.
