I'll just use this photo as an example(not mine)

If i want to darken the skies.what's the best way to do it? Do i just use the brightness/contrast adjustment layer to do it or are there better ways to do it? And how do you make it so that it does not affect the whole image and affect only the sky and clouds.Thnks in advance.

Hi,

There are a lot of ways to do that. For starters and easy way, do try this: http://www.photoshopessentials.com/photo-editing/photoshop-sky/

On top of the link instructions, do note that changing the blending mode and reducing the opacity of the layer can decrease or increase the sky color.

Have fun!

use LAYERS

as to how, i can't help you there, you need a real life demonstration

in short, layer --> duplicate

then set layer type to multiply

use a soft appropriate sized brush, erase to reveal your thing that doesn't need to be darkened.

I used a selective color adjustment layer. In the cyan and blue channels, increased black levels. Also adjusted the blue hue a bit (same adjustment layer) and cloned out that dust bunny at top left.
