My Dell XPS is showing a blank screen whenever I start up.. suspect it is either the video card or LCD that is faulty. It would cost $600+ to buy another additional year of warranty. I suspect the repair cost would not be cheap too.

Anyone know if there is a good laptop repair shop in SLS/Funan where I can go to? Wondering if there are other alternatives then to let DELL repair, since it has run out of warranty also.

THanks!

Had my notebook HDD replaced last week @ Sim Lim. A shop called That Repair Shop on the 4th level. Good experience. Other than that, cant say anything else. To be fair, 1st time I have brought something to Sim Lim to repair so unable to compare to other shops. Hope this helps. :)

Do be careful though, heard cases of HDDs being swapped during repair

Thanks guys.. really dunno if I should fork out $600 for the additional 1 year of warranty, or try my luck in one of the repair shops... sigh

Thanks for the heads up. This practice is not unheard of in any repair industry, including computers and cars.

If they put in a 11000rpm, 240bhp engine into my Toyota Corolla 86, then I don't mind lah;p

There is a shop in Peninsular Shopping Centre, I think is level 3 or 4 near escalator that seem to specialize in repairing Dell laptop. Price is reasonable. You can try there.
