Advice on bag needed

Which bag is suitable for a D700 with 24-70mm and 70-300mm lens?

Am attracted to the Crumpler Keystone and wonder if it's worth the $$. Has anyone used it and if so would you mind sharing your thoughts on how useful and suitable this bag is?

Was recommended the Lowepro Flipside 300 but I must admit it is not exactly "cool" looking when compared to the Crumpler :bsmilie:...

1 body and 2 lenses, I think the Fastpack series from Lowepro would suffice. They cost half of the Crumplers. If you want something slightly more fashionable can try the National Geographic pack. Still cheaper than Crumpler I think.

Crumpler's don't shout "camera" bag, but you need to decide if the extra cost is worth it.

Ur setup? 2 lens only? Think Tank Urban Disguise 35, easily pass off as a document bag, and it will last u forever. Worth every bit u pay for in terms of quality, durability and design.

most backpacks do not look cool

for me, i find crumpler/lowepro backpacks to be on the bulky and overcushioned side. there is no need for so much mass, if you are dropping your backpacks from the second storey, then chances are your gear will go when they're out of the bag, so i don't see a point.

for more reasonable cushioning and size, i find tamrac backpacks and kata backpacks better

Though I am using Lowepro, but somehow, it is true that it could be too bulky (add weight) due to 'overcushion'.

Thanks for the advice night86mare...indeed the lowepro range of backpacks look giagantic. I was browsing through Funan IT Mall yesterday and didn't have any luck.

Any idea where I can find a good range of Tamrac and Kata backpacks?

attached some pics of how i cramp fit by gears into the bag which is a compact fit. cant say much abt the look of lowepro flipside bag but the access of the bag i find its very good. able to access everything inside without setting your bag down and u can even access while moving.

my personal opinion of the design for lowepro flipside 200 and 300 is very much focus on the function and utility aspect of a camera carrier and not so much of a style

Wow, I'm amazed at how you can pack everything into the flipside 200. Neat job! The hood of the 24-70 is just so bulky and I'm so afraid that I'll crack it when I pack it in. I now put it separately in another compartment but what a hassle when I need it.

the 24-70 hood is very durable, its can take some knock. the inside of camera bags are mostly all padded so there should be no worries.

at 1st i also like u, thought of keeping that hood separate but in the end take up alot of extra space. then tried clipping it outside on the bag strap, then find it quite the annoying swing around. so now just pack everything in nice and compact inside the bag. light weight, compact and agile for the flipside200, really like using it.

but now step up to SB900 from SB600 and the bag is really out of space to keep the huge SB900, so now hang strap the SB900 carrier pouch to the side of my flipside200, lucky it doesnt swing around much to cause any annoyance

i would definitely get a good bag to protect my investment

a domke J-1 or a billingham 306 will be good for your set-up
