help!

Hi all,
Pls help me out here.

I recently just bought a 2nd hand Canon EF28-135 IS USM lens frm
a fellow member here. There's one thing I would like to ask, why when
my camera is facing down to the floor(i.e to say camera body parallel
to the floor), the lens will automatically slide down and extend its zoom
from 28mm it will extend out all way to 135mm. And when i point the
camera facing upwards, the same thing happens. Lens will automatically
slide down from 135mm back to 28mm. Is there any thing wrong with the
lens or is it just that the lens is heavy that's why this occurs.
Please enlighten me..thanks guys, i appreciate ur help.

i think cos the lens is heavy... some heavy lens haf a tendency to do jus that....

oh mine god.. I think u have just bought a faulty lens.. even without attaching the lens to the body, the lens should not do such a thing.

This is called lens creep, and it happens to a few of the lenses which are top heavy in design. You can counter this by using a thick rubber band to prevent this from happening.

Lens creep is unavoidable. If it is up to the extend that it will effect you taking photo when pointing up or down then bring it to CSC for repair. I know it is not fun to hold the lens not to creep while composing and snaping

Even L-lens (with barrel zooming) will not have zero creep
