Hi,

I'm planning to get LX3 or Fuji200exr. I would like to ask general price of following items:

1. Memory card 8 GB (not i'm not sure which type of memory card; please state brand, original/prirated/, etc if possible)
2. tripod (looking for a tripod that suit travelling purpose - you guys might give me 'model' or brand as well)
3. 3rd party battery
4. filter (actually i love the effect of polorize filter but not sure whether it fix LX3 or Fuji200exr or not)

I jsut want to do some homework.... scare kena chop le!

- Any scandisk, kingston card will do. 8GB will give you 1000+ shots but video will need more cards.
- Any tripod will do. Don't need to be too particular, light aluminium will do fine as the compacts are very light.
- No specific. I am using OEM batteries too. But spare will be vital, especially F200EXR since the batt lifespan is very limited as reviewed.
- Can F200EXR takes filter tube? not sure.

Bro, I think TS is asking for prices.

Yes, I'm asking price as well as your recommendation.

Thanks, spheredome.

What type of filter usually apply on LX3 or other PnS? is it need additional adaptor or just like a piece of 'plastic/glass' stick on top of your lens?

LX3 can take converters - you screw it on to the lens barrel. F200EXR cannot.

Price of a 'normal' 8 GB Class 2 SDHC card costs around $25-30.

For a PnS, no need to spend hundreds of dollars on a tripod. Just a simple gear tripod will do. Probably about $30-50?

3rd party batteries...hmm...from my limited experience they don't cost more than $40 for a normal PnS camera.

YMMV.

Thanks dude.

By the way, for the tripod, is there any size or particle thing that I need to pay attention before buy?

Six things to take note of:

1. Weight

2. Stability

3. Leg locks

4. Leg sections

5. Height

6. Tripod head

If it's for the LX3 almost every tripod will do the job.

1. hwz has sim lim price list, take a look at it. worse come to worse, go to fuwell, etc, and ask the prices, compare on the spot. while you are at sls, can try alan photo, orient photo. be very very aware of the brand you are asking, the model you are asking. there are so many different models even from same brand (e.g. sandisk has ultra II, extreme III, the list goes on).

2. you can try slik sprint pro, this is relatively light, and will suffice for your camera.

3. eastgear has a great offering of decent 3rd party batteries for many cameras.

4. you can always hand hold the filter in front of tripod, just buy a big enough size and make sure it won't end up that your fingers are in the frame half the time because you are holding it.

I think i'm outdated...dont' know there are so many type of memory card in the market now!
What is the main different between them (eg. ultra II, extreme III, etc.)? If i'm not wrong, just data transfer and access speed right? I think i will not really care on the speed, provided it is not affecting in taking photo.

yes, that is correct, just the transfer speeds.

often it is the camera that is the limiting factor though, you have to check whether your camera might be limited by card speed when you wish to take burst shots.

abt the speed of the cards, for compact cams its more applicable for the recording of movies.. just note that the LX3 can do 720p HD while the 200EXR does VGA videos..

Thank, I will take note on that.
Anyone know where can I get such kind of information?

Finally i decided to buy lx3 in couple of days...

How much is the lx3 original adaptor? which brand or 'model' of circular polarize filter I should go for?
