Saw this in the price list
AF 70-300mm f4-5.6 Di LD Macro - $246 (CP)

Why?
what do you use it for?

If I'm right the build quality and the image quality for this lens is not very fantastic.
More for newbies who want to give zoom lenses a try.
Wide open its only f4.
Compared to 70-200L which has till f2.8

Usages for this kind of lens might be for sports... depends actually.

Do a search abt that lens in CS and u will find out y.

is that tamron version?

70-200 is ok when stopped down, 200-300mm very soft

it's a piece of crap ...

:(:(:(

i like it a lot :(

I used to have the Canon EF 100-300 4-5.6 IS, it was the first gen IS lens. I love it because of what it can do re IS and reach. But it was still a piece of crap.

:eek::eek::eek:

that's true, maybe when i can afford a better telephoto, then it will be crap to me :bsmilie:

ok now i know why its cheap

I am using EOS450D, if i were to buy a lens, it is a must to get one with IS?

Think u need to read up abit about IS before deciding on whether it is a must to get lense with IS.

Wheather u need it depends very much on what u shoot!:bsmilie:

Cheap does not mean crap. I recently went for a an overseas photo shoot with my $100, Nikkor AF 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G. Results are comparable to the guy next to me using 70~200mm/ f/2.8. We both stop down to f/8. Landscape pics of course.

If you know your lens's limitations, you can achieve great results.

Why bring a Parang, when a fruit knife can also do the same job as killing. ;p

Cheers.

it's a canon lens?

cool!

the tamron version got such similar specs

Waaaaah, my photo guru use Tamron

Hehehe,

Just adding fuel to the fire :bsmilie:

Tamron do make some great lens

But the question I MUST ask, do you use Tamron/Canon/Pentax look alikes :dunno:

Cheers :)
