Hi guys out there!

i'm totally new in camera & photography all these.
so my question is!
1 - what kind of camera should i get as i'm really newbie in this.
2 - what should i look for in a camera?
3 - any place to introduce to buy?
4 - what kind of point should i take note of?

it will be a great help if anyone could help me with all these doubt!
thanks alot guys!

It would be really great if you could spend 5-10 minutes reading through all the threads that are exactly like yours. Please try to be an adult, do your own research.

Otherwise, easy answer: Get a simple point and shoot cmaera in your budget. If you know nothing about photography, start small.

Hi jorden, welcome to CS! :)

In this forum, read all the sticky threads, very informative and u will find the answer..... ;)

If you're a total and utter newbie, get a beginner-friendly point and shoot. Learn the basics of composition first.

Hello. Like what bro Rashkae mentioned. If you are totally new, a compact cam to start with would be a good idea. I have seen great pictures with a small compact cam too. If you want to have some control over the cam, a prosumer/bridge cam will be good too.

hey, alright. i'm still learning so just browsing through all post.
prosumer/bridge cam? totally no idea whats all these man. i will slowly learn. :)

A prosumer camera is somewhat in between a PnS and a DSLR. It's more bulky, has better controls over the settings and normally have better lenses. But it's fixed, (i.e. you can't change lenses like a DSLR)

this is an example :

This is very good advice.

After shooting a few hundred/thousand pictures you'll know what is speed, aperture, ISO, DOF, metering options, focusing options, colour temperature etc.

By than you'll know what to buy.

By than you'll know what to buy.

And also *if* you need to buy. Many people buy a DSLR, realize it's too much for them, and "downgrade" to a PnS.

I'm one of those who switch to PnS & Bridge Camera because I do not want to carry those heavy lenses around.

Don't forget DSLR lenses can be very costly esp. when you are addicted to CZ lens.

cannot say like that lah,

he writes from his own point of view
which is usually very different from most

True. But a lot of what he says he'll claim as fact when it's actually just a very biased opinion.

Is it true? cos i read quite alot from his web. HAHA. And does he get paid for writting it? If not then why biased leh? care to share which part are rubbish?
Sorry, i am not trying to doubt u, but i tot it was a gd review web.

you have to take his reviews with a pinch of salt. that all. similarly. Rashkae may thinks half of wat Kenrockwell writes is rubbish and biased. but to him or to another reader it is a gd review.

The problem with starting with pns is that everything has been preset for you and you may end up learning nothing abt aperture, shuttle, iso, etc even after years of "practising" on a pns. :D

If TS is really keen to pick up photography, then maybe he shd start with an entry level DSLR and start playing with it.
