Bali's only a 2.5 hrs flight, and yet I missed this paradise for the last 30 odd years! :sweatsm:

Finally, managed to find some time this year to head out there with my family, and didn't regret a single cent spent on this Trip. Certainly a haven for Photographers, provided you've got the right weather and right light! Problem is I always seem to go at the wrong week or wrong time. Ended up 2 out of 5 possible days raining, and cloudy most of the time!

Ok, back to the pictures I'll like to share... DAY 1!

Doze off most of 2.5hrs up in the air, but couldn't pass the chance on this shot of the wonderful horizon on display.

Same shot, only a different angle...

Reach the HOTEL, and immediately took a walk around the hotel premises for photographic opportunities... Right at the cliff edge, I saw 'light' shining on a particular spot on the Indian ocean.

Shopping around the hotel area, and found lots of these YOGA Cats! Can't find them in the city center but lots in the hotel. Maybe OEM and specifically for this particular hotel?! :p

Dinner's right at the cliff, near the private Jetty. Unfortunately, weather turned for the worse, and it's already starting to drizzle.. where's the SUN when you need it for your photographs!

Went over to the Jetty, and saw the musicians are already playing their instruments as background music for the diners... The music echos off the cliff edge resulting in a really soothing ambience for those having their grilled seafood (indonesian style) at the cliff edge. If you're coming with your spouse or gal friend, it's really really romantic (except perhaps when it's not drizzling).

A closer look at the Musicians!

This is how far out the musicians are from the coast and where the dinner's being served.

hi bro,

i really like #6, the only nitpick is that just moving back slightly so that the pole on the right side could have been captured in entirety would have been great. :)

Bro, thanks! I noticed that after I came back from the shoot ... and was disappointed I didn't really get the right pole in as well. :-(

Still 1 of my fav for this trip.

DAY 2 ...

Overlooks the huge Volcanic rocks by the Beach. After a swim from the pool, you'll come over here for a sun tan.

Arrived at Kuta in the afternoon ... and while my mates are changing their out-of-date currency (yes! out of date!), I went over to 1 of the Kuta main streets ...

1 of the Bali Figurines? A dancer?

Next to Tanah Lot ... along the way, we saw lots of ducks running about in the padi fields, and the tour guide explained that the Bali farmers tries to observe a "Balance" in their farming techniques. Rice fields that had already been harvested may've left over grains. These ducks are free to roam the fields to eat the left over grains, and possible insects (as well). That way nothing is wasted. The droppings from these ducks help fertilized the fields as well (common sense?).

In the picture, they are heading towards an enclosure, and they don't even need the farmer to guide them in!

Reached Tanah Lot. 1 thing about this place is there are just too many tourists, local or foreigners. Btw, this place you need to go during low tide, which usually just mean sunset timing ... otherwise, there's no way that you could reach where this photograph is taken. I would have wished for a higher ground, but tour guide decided to bring me to a different location for dinner. Otherwise, where this shot is taken, which is beside a cliff, there's a cafe/restaurant on top of the cliff, overlooking the temple!

It's quite amazing to have such a queer idea of building a temple right on top of a volcanic rock that's only accessible during low tide.

Along my way to the end of the Tanah Lot stretch of volcanic coastline, towards my dinner location. Took this shot before the sunset ...

Thanks for popping in, Bro! ;)

Ayana's a wonderful location for families. Don't really need to travel out .... just the hotel alone has so many opportunities to take photos, provided you've got good weather. I always end up with 1/2 the time in rainy weather for my trips!

last shot at Tanah Lot ... wanted to have more time there to take more sunset shots, but just didn't want to waste my parents and in-laws time.

Start of Day 3 ... what a day to start off with a shot of the golf course outside our room!

Yes, it used to be the Ritz about a month ago, but now it's known as Ayana Resort and Spa.

Lovely place, isn't it... 4 Seasons nearby and just outside is the Intercontinental. Not sure if these are as beautiful as the Ritz. :dunno:  ...
