Canon Power Shot SX IS

HI All,

Anyone use before Canon Power Shot SX IS? Can give some advice? If I want to purchase a camera which look like a SLR but do not need to purchase for any extra len which one should i buy?

You may consider SX10IS as well. Read this about SX1IS

Consider you are new to camera, SX10IS is a good cam to start with, light weight, only without HD video compare to SX1 IS, but cheaper (cannot recall the price, you may just call Cathay Photo and MS color or Alan photo to ask, check the price list thread with phone number)

if not wrong, DPreview even said SX10 is better then SX1.

Apart from lack of HD video recording, the SX10 also lacks RAW support and HDMI port of the SX1.

If you don't need this, apparently the SX10 is cheaper and similar.

If you really want HD video then the choice has been limited. If you prefer Canon, then it almost set. you only left SX1IS, and a newer model SX200IS, but suppose not as good as SX1IS, since the lens is slower (F3.3 if not wrong), compare to SX1 at f2.8

I'm not sure IXUS series can take HD video or not...

If you don't mind other brand, panasonic LX3 is a good deal, but again, nothing is perfect, LX3 has a limited zoom...

SX1 IS is the latest model compare to SX10IS.

Read your another thread about planning to get a DSLR
For any camera, the price will not be cheap during IT fair. This has been confirmed by a lot of CSer here....
