A simple studio portrait shooting. Nothing funny this time. C&C are welcome. Personally am keen to learn the art of strobist. Very much a newbie and first experience in studio. Pics are with post-pocessing but without cropping so comments on composition are very much welcome.

nice work. depends on what effect you aim to achieve, sometimes there is a secondary fill in flash on the opposite side or sometimes we highlight the background.

Regardless, it is the choice of the photographer in his choice of lighting and we respect that.

Hi JacePhoto. Thanks for the comments. There is SO MUCH to learn about lightings. Personally I love the site: www.strobist.com Am hugely inspired by what lights can do for pictures. Studio apart, am keen on learning on the uses of small flashes off body with wireless control. The biggest pain ($$) is the equipments required.

BTW, I saw your pics in flickr. Love how you uses fill lights. The pic "Tech Crashing" is really nice. Love the expression of the model. Also like "Martial Art- 1st scene". Must learn more from you. Next time got such outings.... jio me along. WANT TO LEARN.

Thanks for your kind comments. Sorry to out thread here. Since you mentioned, yes, always on a look out for people to assist in the shoots. If you are interested, just drop me an email on yr background, bio, etc. We usually work with one camera only. Photos taken is subjected to usage depending on what sort of project it is. For photo assist, its usually more for the experience.

Hey Melvyn, thanks for dropping by. Its high contrast with noise added for post processing. Glad you like the pic. My favourite is either pic 7 or pic 8. Love the expression or lack of it.

I went to check up who Utada Hikaru is and true enough most of her covers are head shots.. prob that's why pic 2 reminds you of her. Both have large eyes without clear visible double eyelid.

Hi. That was my first studio shoot. Was there to learn. The lighting setting was set by the organiser and I did some post processing as well. Think, lighting is a personal preference. Some like it, some don't. But thanks for the pointer. Will take note.

Hi Yamcake, perhaps my attitude was too casual. The shoot is not for any commercial usage thus didn't spend the time for facial touch up. Facial touch up (in general, smoothen the face, getting rid of eye bag, whiten teeth, brighten eyes etc) is the most tedious of PP in my opinion. Then again you may be right, if I want a nice portfolio to showcase, I should spend the time to do up everything.. like you said it'll reflects me as a good image maker.

These days, a good photographer not only have to be good in his photographer skills ( understanding colours/ knowing the science of light etc), he needs to have a photographer's eye (composition) and finally IT skills for final touch up.

Lots of area to grow in.
