Casio S12 or Panasonic LX3?

Hi everyone!

I need a camera that can take indoor photos without the use of flash and pictures will still turn out sharp and not blurry..

And i saw this Casio S12 advert in a tw magazine and it look so good! High speed processor (Exilim Engine 4.0) and it can even do photo editing for you!

Comparing LX3 (which have lots of supporters here!) and Casio S12, which one will you recommend? :think:

LX-3.

Casio has never been known to be good for night shots. Maybe the current generation is better, so I'm merely basing my opinions on their past track records.

However, even though LX-3's IQ is about as good as you can get from a compact, the lens is something you need to get used to. Very short zoom, and at the 24mm end, it makes for really unflattering and distorted people shots.

IMO, the only other camera worth comparing with the LX-3 would be the Fujifilm F200EXR. (Do a search for this thread on CS)

din you read the post clearly? F200EXR is the one which you can seriously consider.. :thumbsup:

LX3 is only 2.5x optical zoom, considering the wide angle of 24mm... in reality the 2.5x max zoom is only like 2x optical zoom in normal cameras or even 1.5x optical zoom in normal cameras which are non-wide angle..

Im really so lost now. Seems like there are so many cameras in the market!

I am now holding on to a Lumix FX36 and im worried that if i get the F200EXR, it will be like im holding on to 2 similar cameras..

But if i were to get a LX3, i'm not sure if it will give me what i want (to take photos of my family and friends indoors without flash) and am afraid that it will be too chiem for me to use!

if youre talking about low light conditions without flash, then you'll just have to compromise and allow for noise in your pictures

otherwise, auto modes are there for a purpose

Not only am i encountering noise, but the images are also shaky and i actually place the camera on the table.

Is this a problem with my camera or the settings (i usually use IA mode or max ISO800) or its my skill??

taken with flash or without flash?

I'm looking for this type of quality taken indoors..

1) Your table is unstable
2) Your hands shook the camera when triggering shutter button(try timer)
3) Your subject moved
4) Your camera not positioned properly

Otherwise, I can't think of any reasons why the picture would be blurry. LX3 does have good high ISO performance though. Can't comment on the Fuji as I have never tried it before.

Thanks, i have yet to try out your tip on the timer one! i think i will try that next time.

main thing is the bright lens of f1.8 that allow such shots.

Actually either the Fuji or the LX3 can do well in low light. Fuji you can up the ISO to compensate. While the LX3 has the f2.0 lens to compensate for low light. Of course you must choose the correct settings and dont shoot long exposures handheld. I guess with the image stabilizers on the LX3 and F200 its okay to shoot around 1/8sec.

my goodness.. what are those terms! :think:

lens: f1.8 and f2.0 (lower number better?)

Usually i will just set my camera to auto.. How to set exposures and 1/8 sec?

To have this type of images u took, which one u reckon is better? LX3 or Fuji?
