Problems of Wide conversion lens

I have bought a 0.45x wide conversion lens
attach it to my 18-55mm lens
the pictures a little similar to fish eye's images~~
but cannot focus all the things
as i know~wide angle lens hav greater dop~~
so how to solve my mistake?

and vignetting at 18mm T.T

and look for a lot of threads
it's seem not so worthy to buy
what do u think? sell it?

i need a wide angle lens for landscape~can guide?

Got it for $950 new for the alpha mount. Second hand ones cost around $450-$600 at buy and sell.

treat it like you have a Holga Lens on your DSLR

Then do custom tone map to simulate cross processing and remember to add the light streaks

1) wide angle converter lens are design for smaller sensor, like compact digital cameras and video cameras.

2) so far, what i have tested, oly 0.7x wcon and the Kodak SCHNEIDER-KREUZNACH XENAR 0.7X is best in the market with their 4 elements design.
most in the market has only 2 elements, has the bad image quality.

Distortion has a lot to do with the converter design (and usually price). Can't do much if the converter you now have has quite a bit of distortion. Only solution is to compose around this limitation.

Usually , sharpness in on the centre only. It helps to stop down (and I mean real down like f11 or higher) the aperture, but even then it depends on quality of the converter. So solution is to stop down (probably use a tripod) and/or compose such that area of interest is mainly in the center.

Vignetting at 18mm, no solution to that, its a physical limitation. Either zoom out a little to avoid, crop or compose around it.

in the first place, what is your camera body? compact cam or DSLR? which brand and model?

holga is a classic hong kong made toy camera. it is used to describe an effect that appears as if you are shooting through a window pane, showing distortion, partial area blurring, light fall-off or various defects of poor optical quality but was seen as an artistic alternative. this is often used for creative urban still or candids that often describe a mood and sometimes motion and where details are not that important, but not that suitable/commonly used for standard landscape and portraits where details are essential elements.

the best is nikkor 14-24mm FX or 12-24mm DX at a price. widest rectilinear is sigma 10-20mm DX, anything wider is fisheye for nikon bodies. best budget recommended is the new tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 DX.

your question on landscape is quite vast. techniques varies and you got to be specific. if your concern is wide angle lens + night-citiscape, try good timing/lighting (evening) and long exposure. basic composition with a good and big subject of interest is also paramount. the rest got to ask the real experts who really does nightscape as i dun.
