Hello to all CSUsers here! I enjoy reading every thread posted here at CS and infected me to try this photography=)

So guys, can you give me advice about this dslr nikon d60 or nikon d80? im thinking purchasing one but dont know which is the wise choice to choose. Ofcourse pricing is also need to consider=)

Thanks

Sorry, i posted at the wrong thread forum. apologies :embrass:

I dont know who to approach so for the admin=) can help me move this to the newbie section

Many thanks

Hi I would recomend the d80.The reason is,the af motor.I myself am a d40 user with no built in motor, and finding a good lens is really hard coz the cheap and good lenses are all AF not AF-S.
Like the 50mm f1.8 its very cheap and good but I just can't get it coz of the AF.So my bet is go for a D80 and it looks cooler :)

lamergod, thanks for the reply. Yah i think your right and the lenses i checked for D60 that have a motor is quite expensive

jnet6, D90 is really out of my budget=) but thanks for the reply.

I dont know whether its a good thing to ask this one but i'll go ahead.
Anyone of you tried the Sony a200? coz my friend say this one is a entry level of sony but the thing is the motor is together with the body unlike D60 the motor is together with the lenses. And i saw the price is SGD1200, is this good?

Wow this one is a tough decision to make guys=)

Thanks

Now you have the option of AF-S 50mm f1.4 ;p

First welcome erick. Since you're "infected me to try this photography" I assume you're new to dslr photography and if you don't mind, consider a used d80. You then have the in body motor to AF a 50mm 1.8 lens. There are some on sale in BnS. A used d80 will be easy on your pocket and you can spend the money you saved on lens.

Welcome to CS....

I am new here but have no regrets getting the D90. If you going 2nd hand maybe the budget for a D90 would fit u. GOOD LUCK!

Anyway, welcome to CS!:)

Wow, a bunch of thanks at the reply from you guys!

This is great, a lot of members here are really helpfull to the newbies=) Never expect that i'd receive a response that fast.

Ok, so thanks again guys. Let you know if i got a question again. I'll check the BnS for the meantime and read some other threads:thumbsup:

yup....read more...

do note u need to spend even more on other stuff beside buying the cam and lens... :bsmilie:

Welcome to CS! :)

As many say, not just a cam but a system... lot more to buy..

Hello...welcome.

If you're comparing the D80 and D60, of course it'll be better to go for the D80.
For Sony, the A200 is an entry cam and I woudl suggest that you look at the Personal Classified section for a 2nd hand A300/A350 instead. ;)
