Hi, there are few questions I would like to seek advise from the experts here..

I am actually choosing between Canon Powershot G10 and Nikon Coolpix P6000.

Both cameras specs are somehow similiar and both are attachable with Tele converters lenses
but I would like to check/ask which is better as compared to the usage of Tele converters lenses. Which has more range of lenses and can both use other brands of lenses?

Thanks in advance.. =)

Not too sure about the Nikon P6000 but the Canon G10 is compatible with all tele converter lenses but you have to use a lens adaptor that is attached to the camera (52mm or 58mm).

But you should understand that the pic quality will deteriorate if you use any converter lens with your camera.

But specs wise, the G10 should offer a bit more range as it has a 5X zoom (140mm)compared to the P6000 which has a 4X (112mm) zoom.

The Canon looks more favourable to me with that wide angle lens..

I knew that for any picture taken with zoom the quality will deteriorate.. But how about those taken with DSLR?

I am actually trying to determine whether should I get a compact camera that are attachable to Tele converters lenses or an entry-level DSLR.. But DSLR lenses seem expensive to me..

Tele converters when attached to either a compact or DSLR lens will cause the pic quality to deteriorate.

When buying a DSLR, you have to factor in the cost of the body, various lenses, external flash, filters etc. It is not a cheap investment even if you were to buy an entry level one.

Oh, since using the tele converters will make picture quality deteriorate then I better reconsider it..

I am actually looking for a zoom camera.. by comparing Canon SX200 and Panasonic ZS3, both also seem to have same specs except for the lens which ZS3 have a wider lens of 25mm.. but if come to picture quality, which of it would be better?

If the teleconverter for G10 is sufficient to meet your needs, then dSLR will be able to find a fitting lens without TC.

If you are really going to use a TC on your G10, then might as well buy another model with longer zoom, the IQ will be better. Just a thought

Definitely go for Canon G10 !

The G10 seems to be a better choice between these 2 cams but I have seen great pictures from the P6000 too.
