"An Inconvenient Truth"

Just get to know about this documentary film and would love to share it.

It's real good "educational" tour for a layman like me for those Scientific stuff and to help me understand more about it.

At this film, i like this sentence from Mr Al Gore.

"Are we as a (Human being), capable of do great things even though they are difficult? Are we capable arising ourself and arising history?"

* I have changed to (Human being) instead of "American"

So after the huge campaign of the "Earth hours", so what can we help? Are you ready to change the way you live?

Just might thought it wont help much even some really follow the 24 degree aircon things or go shopping with their own plastic bags etc. Think again.

One person litter the cig butt, it's not a big deal. What if it's about a population of 60 BILLIONs?

Just like Ants might be small, it's a different story but when it's united.

PM me if anyone want to watch this film.

heard about the film during my jc days .. havent gotten the time to check it out though.

Just be aware that the inconvinent truth isn't really accurate. But on the whole the message still stands.

the way i lived changed when i got married.

now that's an inconvinient truth...:bsmilie:

Pengz. Lololol.

I've decided to change the way I live from tonite on, after knowing I'm close to losing someone I really like to another. Being from an elite (who cares) school, you tend to overlook certain things and stuck your nose up.
It's pure idiocy...

Great! At least you have seen the truth, that we are all the same whether we are black, yellow, white, red, purple, green, highly educated or not, we all need to eat, **** and pee the same way........ok lah, difference is only man and woman. Some difference is there :)

I am happy for you that you came to this realisation in life!

A little follow up for those who really want to make a difference....

Even if you don't care about environment.... one one the "next big thing" is carbon trading/taxation. Be prepared, even if it's purely for economic reasons.

Steve Job.. the Apple CEO and John Scully was then with PesiCola..

Steve asked John..."..do you want to sell sugared water or do you want to change the world?"

The rest is history

Interesting but I'm not convinced at all. I have watched the first film only. My question would be.

1. Are all these crazy weather patterns caused by us?
2. Are we capable of controlling the weather?

Show me some proof that we (humans) are causing Global warming then maybe I will change my mind. 'Scientific consensus is that we are causing global warming' is not proof, it's someone's idea.

Hm let remember that and answer the same thing to your grandchildren when there is fresh water scarcity, widespread flooding due to melting polar ice, and freaky weather pattern.

Interesting. What proof do you mean?

That carbon dioxide comes from human activities?
That carbon dioxide traps heat?
That weather pattern is controlled by the temperature of the atmosphere?

Sometime there isn't a need for irrefutable proof to do the right thing. Conservation of natural resources, is always good.

There are different school of thoughts that global warming is a natural cycle and the world will still warm up. Regardless of our conservation efforts.

I understand where these arguments are coming from. The "greenhouse effect" IS a natural phenomenon and is past changes in temperatures are on the whole cyclical.

The world might warm up naturally, but I find it hard to think we are not making it excessive. CO2 does traps heat and that human activities are releasing massive amounts of C02 (not a natural activity), there must be a cause and effect here.

A did a bit of research about this before... There are some scientists who argue that this 'global warming' is cyclical. It happened before and it will happen again whether we like it or not.

There were studies conducted and showed that the temperature 1000 years ago were not that dissimilar to today's temperature, and a cold period 500 years ago.

Really?

Ive read recently that cows and sheep create more C02 than all the cars in the world just from farting. So what, are you going to kill all the cows?

Unfortunately they did not answer to the "rate" of temp increase that was unprecendented since the industrial revolution.
