Hi, I don't know if this belong here or the Sigma forum, mods, please move if it is inappropriate here. Thanks.

I've got a Sigma lens to be send for cleaning/servicing. Is it better to go to Sigma service centre or shops like Camera hospital?

My thoughts is Sigma is more expensive but will be more pro since its their lens? and shops are cheaper?

I'd think it would be best to go straight to Sigma Service Center rather than dabble with alternatives. While cheaper, they may not necessarily be more reliable, and if they screw up then what happens? ;)

Sigma is not cheap, I will ask for discount cos usually they will give I think.

I think you want to have a service first, right? Based on what do you want to ask for discount?

Ya i want to bring in ask them quote then get discount.

And you reason for asking them for a discount would be...?

I don't think "Sigma service center is more expensive than elsewhere, so you should give me a bit of a lower price" would work very well. Lol.

I go try and let you know.

Reminds me of a story from a friend. His father has a business selling office furniture and equipment. One day customer came in and the first question was "How much discount do you give?" - Answer: "I'm selling office furniture, not discounts." ;)

Suggest go back to the original maker. They know their product inside-out and have the spares part if needed.

I have a sigma lens, is well under warranty still. A peace of mind.
