Ok since this is a newbie corner. I wun be afraid to ask.

I have been keeping alot of pictures in my cpu. I always take and nv print it out.

Finally its time to bring it to print. Because I have nv done this before, got a couple of questions to ask...

1) If I bring the camera memory card to the shop for printing, and I wana take their package (as in print more den more discounts). How do I let the person know which are the photos I want ? Cant be printing all. Or izzit I burn all into a CD den pass to the person ?

2) Will those famous shops like Fugifilm, Kodak bla bla bla charge more $ den those normal shops that you see below HDB blocks ? They all offer same services ?

pardon me for such noob questions

most of them got kiosks, you can select there yourself, get help from the storeowner if you not sure how to use

more well-known print shops will tend to have more consistent resutls, that's about it.

Yup I know of those Kiosks that is usually stationed outside their shop.

But like I say, I did saw those packages like print more den more discounts, that dun apply to kiosks rite ? as in if u diy print from kiosks is they wun know how many pages u print also ?

den those well known shops are more costly by alittle rite ?

I printed once from Harvey Norman and the kiosk is only for you to select the pics etc. The data will be transferred to a master printer inside and usually they will ask you to come bk collect 15 mins. that's my experience...dunno if it's still the same

Oh lidat de ah...

hmm guess I will rethink and visit one of those shops to enquire...

Because my gf suggest that to save trouble, just choose first den burn all into a DVD. I was like ? why wana spend on a single DVD although its damn cheap. I m sure there are other more "friendly" ways to do it. :bsmilie:

hi, actually i oso stored a lot of pics in computer but seldom print out. for me, if wen i wan to print certain pics, if the total size is not too big , i will use a spare memory card to save it n send to shop for printing. if the total size too big then i have to use thumb drive. i don like to use dvd to burn cos more troblesome n maybe will degrade my pics (got 1 bad experience, maybe is my burner no good:dunno: )
and the question of which shop for printing better, i think better go to those photoshop, cos some below HDB one actually is very small shop, they maybe don have good equipment or not pro enough. i try 1 b4, is cheap but the photo paper they use is cheap 1 oso, the colour oso so so..:thumbsd: some photoshop they more pro, they have all the equipments, sometimes they will help u to adjust the photo colour...etc...but maybe expensive a bit la...
so, is depends on wat u wan la... price? or quality?:)

how would burning into disc will degrade the photos?
either can read or can not read, it wouldn't change the color or sharpness of photos.

Here are some of the digi print labs which many of us being using, do a name search in this forum to check out the comments, pick one that suit you, call them for price yourself.

Useful addresses of common photographic equipment/services shops

and some new update..

Gathering new info for photo developing shops

try not to save money by sending your print orders to cheap cheap labs, you might not happy with the outcome, and have to make another print orders from other better labs, you will even spend more money in the end.

btw, check your images ratio carefully before you order a paper size, eg, if you are using 2:3 DSLR, you are good to print 4R photos, and if you are using 3:4 DLSR, you need to print jumbo 4R/DSC 4R.

making print with wrong ratio, some parts of the image maybe crop away by the labs, or and white borders on two sides, however, you can recrop it manually before send it for printing.
