Which Memory Card brand?Sandisk?Lexar?Kingston?

Maybe I am just being nitpicky. Somebody might say they've used this memory card brand A, so far ok. Other people use memory card brand B, have problems. Then the Brand B camp exploded and say brand A user dont format the cards properly, just plain do erase function which some say might corrupt it in the long run.

What memory cards do you use now? Why that brand? We have Kingston, Sandisk, Lexar etc and thanks to this thread about checking a counterfeit ones.

I read about Sandisk's reliability but Lexar is cheaper. Both offer similar speeds. Just dont know how they perform in the field.

Any users wanna comment?

most of the time if i need SD card or CF card, i will get Sandisk.. cos all the while using it... but if i need micro or mini card, i get kingston, cos they will come with adaptor to reach SD size...

Thing about this is pretty much like comparing Dell, HP and Acer - it pretty much relies on one's experience and main diff would be price. I use SanDisk and will only use SanDisk cuz I never had problems and neither do I see the need to change brand. I have pro photogs acquaintance who only use Kingston and only want to spend on Kingston. Also, I know pro sports photogs from Getty Images like Harry How who'll only use Lexar. These people have been using the card prolly for years now and for myself, I have only used SanDisk since I had my first DSLR few years ago.

THEN... you have this fella, Rob, who does intensive testing on CF Card performance on different DSLRs. I myself would be confuse on which to recommend you but I didn't bother to confuse myself with decision and just get what I know is trusted and until the day it fails on me, again, I don't see the need to change.

Thanks for the input guys. Rob certainly did an extensive test on the cards. I am planning to purchase quite a few UDMA cards myself and was torn between Lexar and Sandisk.

The salesman urged me to go for Sandisk rather than Lexar hence the thought reflected here. Its not that I dont trust him based on customers' experience. I only had the experience of using Kingston and from time to time, I did get one or two corrupted pictures. I assumed it was my computer or the card reader, but then it can be attributed to the memory cards as well.

Anyways. I think I will go with Sandisk. 16GB 300X UDMA here I come..

Sandisk is a good choice.. Been using their product for quite a while.. No problem at all.

I used both Kingston and Lexar cards...

I have hell lot of problems with cards from kingston from 8GB and abv. And their support isnt fantastic either. I've been waiting for 3 weeks to pick up my replacement 16GB card..
Never ever had any probs with Lexar...

When you said memory cards, what type are you referring to? Compact Flash? Secure Digital? Mini SD, Micro SD?

we threw 2 x 1gb lexar cf across the road b4. frustrated at its unreliability at that time, 4 years ago.

Mine friend who is working in the flash industry only use Sandisk (1st choice) or Kingston. No other brands. But recently my friend's Sandisk SDHC having problem he bought not long ago. Quite rare actually and this is mine first encounter with a failed Sandisk.

Kingston currently offers the best price to capacity ratio at the moment. At S$58 for 16GB 133x, to me that's a truly great deal. Bought 2 and been using for the past few weeks and no problems thus far (cross fingers).

OTOH, I sold off a Lexar 8GB UDMA coz my card reader couldn't read it. No such issue with my Kingstons and Sandisks.

Bottom line though is that your mileage might vary. There's not one uber realiable memory card out there that will please everybody.
