Hi all..

Just been mulling this over...

Currently i have

20d
17-40L
430ex2

was thinking of adding lenses and am wondering on these choices:

50mm 1.8
85mm 1.8

or

tokina 50-135mm f2.8

or
70-200mm L f4

was wondering which of the above 3 would be a good idea?budget currently about 1k...the all prime lens choice seems to be the cheapest as compared to a first hand tokina or a 2nd hand 70-200mm L f4. What do you guys think? I know its sorta an apple and oranges sort of question..would primes be a better idea as compared to a telephoto? wide aperture vs inability to zoom comes into mind

20D?
why don't you get the 35mm instead? 50mm is not going to be wide enough for shoots from table to table (i'm assuming here, cos 20D has a cropped sensor).

I got the 17-40mm for that..

its more of my options in the longer end(50mm and above)...would primes be a better idea than zooms?

Your current setup is enough. I've used the 17-40 to cover an entire day's wedding twice so yeah, it's enough.

I have use 17-40mm + 85mm for one wedding b4...:)

anyway, up to indivdual shooting style.

Use the S$1,000 to buy a used Leica M3 and go reportage style!

Canon 50mm f/1.2 is a very good lens for wedding.
So is the leica 50mm f/1 or 0.95. Since you're using canon, there is a Leica M Close-up Adapter you can use to mount the leica 50mm M lens on your 20D.
Maybe can get someone to rent you the leica or canon as the canon cost 1.6k and up while the leica 50mm f/0.95 is 9k.

If u're talking abt used Canon 50 f/1,2L, it's around that price or a bit higher. Else new u won't get that price.

Sorry my bad then. My friend bought it brand new from that price. Probably cost price? Haha.
