Hi All,

I took this photo in my make-shift studio aka hall of my HDB apartment. It was on request of my sis-in-law who wants to get some belly shots before.... you know... the "due date".

Setup:

right top - strobe with shoot-thru umbrella
left - strobe - shoot thru umbrella
background - just a piece of white fabric

The shot was originally very bland and showed no excitement at all thus needed some post processing. The ultimate aim that was to focus on the 'unborn baby' while bonding the parents into the shot.

Vignetting was intention to blur out the faces thus creating more focus on the belly.

1. I'm looking for C&C in the post processing. Did I overdo on it?
2. Any comments on the composition?

I'm hoping that this will be one of the many memorable images that parents like the one in the picture can keep and one day show to the kid came from 'mummy's tummy'.

I find the Yellowish green tint of the Guy especially unsettling....

The idea is nice, but...

However more thought should be put into small details like the clothes, for this, it seems like the shot was arranged and taken with whatever they had on at that time. The cropping is also too tight, which is exacerbated by the excessive vignetting.

1. yes, way too overdone, in the first place, why are all the highlights so blown, your exposure is really quite bad here, from what little i can see in the picture. it is in fact so bad that there seems to be a lot of posterisation. other than that, the massive vignetting does not really work for me, it looks like a gimmicky move. i am really ok with the flare though, as long as everything else mentioned here is ok.

2. this is perhaps a picture where the focal point can be placed in the centre, rather than just off centre like you have done here.

maybe it's just me, but i don't really get what the dad is doing.
