Hmmm... just a passing thought... the news loves to catch people shooting models that in scantily clad ingerie and swim suits... but what is they are FAT people.. like SUPER PLUS sized...

So is it the WOMEN, the AGE, the PHOTOGRAPHER, or the MEDIA that is trying to hype all these up? hahahhaa

nothing wrong with that actually. but if the subject is a couple, it gets tricky how to make her look slim without showing much of her meat. if done well, you get praised. if her fat comes out like ugly blobs, you get punched.:bsmilie:

if really too jia lart, liquidfy does the job.:bsmilie:

photographers can be a creative surgeon in making timeless capture.

it is a bit hard to put that idea across in today's context.. when skinny is like, the norm for any model out there.

To me, fat or thin, ugly or pretty, old or young, actually doesnt matter, its still a form of human portraiture.

just that the majority of so called "portraiture photographers" are only into pretty models with nice features and hot bod.

I am guilty of that too :cry: which is why i always remind myself the essence of portraiture, to capture the emotions, character, mood and spirit or our human subject, whoever they are.

actually...MM has a lot of plus sized models in Nude and Lingerie.

a search on MM will lead one to find a lot of plus sized models in that genre. yet a lot of photogs are willing to take them.

so I guess it is a matter of how we want to see the model.

What if the model is anorexic thin? They can wear lingerie too! And I WON'T shoot them.

There is nothing wrong with the subject's feature. They are naturally born in that way or by obvious reasons. If the subject is confident in their looks, by all means shoot lor. Not to make them beautiful, but presentable. There are tons of examples from overseas which was conducted in that way and some are very impressive.

Sometimes is the bias thinking of the photographers that they have to shoot something nice. Mainly for their portoflio. But sometimes, this thinking have to be changed. I had been to a fine art photography course, which it exposed the students with subjects of various features. There are young and beautiful subjects and also some obease features. This is a challenge and a good exposure to the students.

Totally agree on this one.....

If photographers really wanna beef up the challenge... NO need to shoot good looking people... Make the AVERAGE good looking will already be an incredible feat...
Still ... I give respect to plus sized models that have more confidence than a beauty pageant holder.... :thumbsup::thumbsup:
