2kg max Tripod enough for 1.7kg cam?

unfortunately not.. if your setup is 1.7kg there is going to be some form of vibrations etc.... the 2kg limit of tripod is the limit that doesnt break the pod or topple it/spoil it but functionally speaking.. you have try the pods to know the strength/weaknesses

Did u factor in the weight of the ballhead / pan head that you will be / are using ?
I would get a tripod that has a better load capacity than 2kg for ur setup of 1.7kg

I always play safe by getting a tripod that can support at least a few kgs more than my entire setup. Rather pay more for a better tripod than pay even more if your setup comes crashing down.

Go think abt it.

Would u guys tink 2.5kg capacity is reasonable then? eg. Benro-A69M8 Travel Angel.

If you're going Benro, take a look at the A169m8 or A269m8 then. I think the travel weight is still ok at ~1.5kg and ~1.8kg. Of cos the A069m8 is very light at about 1.2kg ?

As Snoweagle, proteon and giantcanopy said, got to factor in the head's weight, consider for vibrations and mitigate the risk of overweight failure..... one other thing to note is that when your setup goes beyond 2.5kg, you'd need to change to another tripod !

I use a 12kg max load (Head + tripod) but my camera + lens + flash doesn't go past 2.5kg as yet.......

Does tripod really actually breaks? U guys mean the legs like bend or something?
Cause I imagine that'll really require quite a lot of weight?

I guess smthing 4kg max capacity will be good for me.hmm:think:

A 4 or 5 kg max weight would be better, a tripod does not really break like legs bend or something, just instability unless its the head which u shd take note of.

I have the same setup weight as you. In the end got a tripod that can support up to 5kg. The max weight is really not that useful. I'm sure I can hang 6kg on my tripod and it will not break / bend. The main thing is the stability of the tripod, and you have to test it out.

Another thing to note is the weight of the head (as mentioned), as well as having to option to hang a counterweight for increased stability.

i suggest u not only takes the weight of ur current set up as the only consideration factor, there are much more factors to consider.

Its beginning to look like its at least 4kg. Best 6kg capacity for me..

it will work, but will be iffy.

better to get something more stable, stuff like slik pro 3xx series should be better cut out for the job.
