Safe to bring DSLR to cruise?

Not sure about Star Curise, but Royal Carribean does have a safe box (like those in the hotel) in the cabin. But I think you will most likely carry it everywhere you go cos got lots of things to shoot. If you intend to leave it in the safe box (will means you will not be shooting most of the time) then don't waste time, bring a PnS will do
Don't you want to take the best pics of sunrise / sunset seascape?

I suggest you bring CPL filter along as the daylight can be very strong to cause reflections etc if you want to capture sea and clouds.
Dude... Just bring what you can bring. You'll want to enjoy your cruise, not remember how you lugged an entire camera store onto the cruise.
You can bring your entire gear, purchase every single lens at your preferred store, bring just your dSLR and your favorite lens, bring a point-and-shoot compact camera, a phone with a built-in camera... the list goes on...
So the bottom line is, know what you want to shoot, and just bring the required equipment. Want some "seascapes"? Then maybe a CPL. Just you and your family & friends having fun? Anything will do.
Which brings me to my second point. Whatever equipment you eventually choose to bring, just make the most out of it.

Hah! You'd be surprised if you actually know the kind of valuables that gets lost in the sea on every cruise...
i guess a P&S will do... thats nth much to take on the boat that a P&S can't handle... sunset/rise? no problem, a compact can handle that. most impt; go there enjoy .. not shoot!
hello everyone in the Clubsnap,me Johnnyseo i am new in this forum but i suggest that you should carry along where ever you go.It safe to bring to cruise as a keen photograher, there are alot of subject on-board the ship that u can capture not to put in the safe deposite box, i had been to the cruise 3X a yr,which I carry along 1 classic body,3 lenses,1 AE-1 Canon body in the past and l upgraded to a EOS 40D due to hi-tech advance.may go on board soon to cruise with old and new body, nothing to fear it is very safe,bro.
lol .. i think the advice should be "Just don't drop"
drop camera into the sea or drop on floor is something we dun want to happen;p
