People,

Any good recommendation for closeup filter for size 52 and not so expensive..

Is for macro on a 50 f1.8

U can get a +10 macro filter to use on the 50f1.8 but do note that magnification will not be anywhere near 1:1...:)

As said earlier, a close up is not macro and only macro close ups is the +10 but macro is 1:1 or greater.

A Hoya +4 for 52mm filter size will cost $25.

Note that you can stack more than 1 filter, meaning you can stack 2 pcs +4, depending on what you want to achieve.

i got a +1, +2, +somthing else and +10 macro filter for $60+ ...

Whether the lens achieves macro level of 1:1 reproduction depends not only on the dioptre of the filter itself, but also the existing lens that you plan to use it on.

For instance, the 70-180mm micro Nikkor needs a 6T to achieve 1:1

But u will need higher dioptres for many other general lenses to get 1:1.

For using macro on 50mm lens, u need a nikon pk-13 extension tube to achieve a 1:1. however i'm using pk-13 on my 105mm, works pretty well also

but is it hard to achieve focus with the 50mm? (especially if you used a MF 50mm?)

Is not a manual EF 50F1.8 But still can acheived right

Just take note though that with a +4 filter, your focusing distance is ard 25cm. And if mounted on any lens, be sure to adjust your focus distance to the minimum. This will allow you to get max magnification at any focal length. :)

I have a friend who uses two Hoya +4 filters stacked to take flower macros on his 18-55 kit lens. So I'm not sure if the +4 filter will be useful on your 50f1.8 lens since I believe the 50f1.8 focusing distance is pretty near.

Just to illustrate, this is taken from my 50mm with 2 pieces of Hoya +4 close up filters and B+W MRC UV-Haze.

A shot taken a long time ago when i was interested in macro :p. Past 1:1.
25mm extension tube and +10 dioptre on a 50mm prime. The focusing distance was .. tiny
