I'm wondering if anyone here has gone to the Toa Payoh or Yishun Safra Gyms to take their IPPT test? and can share their experiences?

I understand that the 2.4 run is on treadmill with the following speeds below.

Cat X (<25) = speed 12.0, incline 2
Cat Y = speed 11.7, inclline 2

My question is that is this automatic(as in operated by the machine itself?) and how long do u have to run on the treadmill? What happens if u fall off the treadmill? how is the score taken in that whether u know u pass anot?

Are there any sensors on the static machines at all the other various stations itself?

I understand that taking IPPT at safra gyms do not have any incentive award and am not aiming for any monetary award, just looking forward to a pass:sweat:

Thanks in advance for the replys.

The speed of the treadmill is preset so that you just passed the running timing for your CAT.

You can decreased or increased the speed accordingly but you need to compensate to run faster if you decreased the speed so that you can pass.

How long you will run depends on yourself. And you most likely won't fall off the treadmill and if you cannot take it anymore, there's a STOP button at the sidebar for you to activate it.

Be careful of it if you think you can pass because if you accidentally hit the button and your treadmill stops means you failed. And in any cases of electricity cut, it is equivalent to a failure too. Happen to me before at Tampines GYM.

Thanks for your reply. I supposed you have taken your IPPT at the safra gyms before. Say if you run at the speed 12.0 with 2 incline how long would you have to run? and do they have sensors attached to them?

If I remembered correctly, the preset settings of speed 12 with 2 incline will be 12 minutes, which is the about 20 seconds buffer from the standard passing time at 12:20.

Yay. I Cat Y this year. Haha!

Are there any notable differences as compared to taking IPPT in safra gyms as compared to taking in maju/katib/bedok?

No differences except at FCC, you run on tracks instead of treadmill and at FCC, there's monetary awards if you get bronze, silver or gold. Gyms no awards even if you get bronze, silver or gold.
