Hi all, I'm new here. Just wonder whether there is such a function. budget S$600 - S$700. or any other type of suggestion. Thank you very much.

you are looking for built in infra-red or something like Sony`s Night Shot mode?

If you want colour, probably only the old Sony compacts with laser focus thing would work.
They can focus in complete darkness (limited distance tho), use flash to illuminate the scene.

Think the F and V series had it.

You can't get a fast shutter speed without flash in low light, not in conventional photography anyway. It goes against the laws of light.

You have to understand that with faster shutter, lesser light will hit your sensor.
Either you use a flash, a bigger aperture or up the ISO.
Anyway, please be more specific on your 'low light' conditions.
Normal ballroom lighting? Concert hall?

Maybe in the year 2015. Right now that's everyone's dream camera. ;)

Think even if this camera pops up, won't be in the range of 600-700. :D

Maybe by 2015. But by then we'll be spoiled, and complaining about why there's no $300 camera with 40megapix, 50x zoom with constant f/2.0 aperture and ISO to 256000.

I wouldn't rule that out.
Technology is improving every minute.
The latest and most hyped about model may become obsolete 2 years later.
Who knows a company by the name of Ninon or Cakon will come up with a gem all of a sudden.

Or Olympus, or Fuji, or Sony, or Samsung, or a whole new player.

How about being able to extract anything in any resolution directly from our brains. Something like "Minority Report". Hmmm.. Won't even need cameras anymore.

Quick answer: NO CAMERA is close to your requirement. You need a very large, large-aperture lens and a large sensor to meet your requirements.

D700, A900 or 5DII with a f/0.7 lens FTW :D

"great zoom". So that would be a 24-450mm? Let's see now... 20kg? Naaah. Front element would be almost 70cm. Maybe about 25kg.
