Hi does anyone know how to speed up downloads?

Thanks!

get a better computer, get a better CF/SD/XD/etc card

Does downloading Download Accelerator work?

Nope. Really kinda useless.

Ok thanks!

So it looks like better computer, better bandwidth n surf at super off peak hrs if not it will be the same! :bsmilie:

Most importantly are your connection bandwidth and the available bandwidth between the hosting server and your end. Other than that, the computer factor is secondary, or even insignificant.

actually hor... internet is faster at day time, which is Business Peak hours... but super slow during Off Peak hours at night... cos everyone go home and surf net, download, etc...

Wanted it to be faster bcos when downloading from company the server suddenly resets! then got to do everything again...then it resets again!

depends... not say insignificant...

if the PC OS ports are not open or configured properly, download slow... if the CPU is slow, download automatically slow... dun underestimate the CPU function in downloading.

:bsmilie: This would be applicable to programs such as Bittorrent or other downloads that requires non-common sets of ports.

And I believe you won't see a difference in download speed between a Pentium 4 system against a Intel i7 system eh? ;) There may be great difference between these 2 examples in terms of performance, but nevertheless, download speed remains the same for these 2. ;)

Another factor to consider would be firewall that may be deployed in the system since filtering is done in between the transfers. :)
