model photography depends where u want ur venue to be. if it's outdoor and it's not too dark, then flash is not required actually =)

not exactly true.

U can use flash in the outdoors during shoots as a fill flash for the face. One example, and it is a very crude example. If the model has his/her back to the sun, the chances of the face being underexposed is there. So a fill flash could be used in this case to fill the light that is "missing".

T/S...model photography. Which type? Fashion? Glamour? Bridal? Lingerie? Swimsuit?
Try the PP section for starters first. Pick your poison.;)

i'd like to try the glamor, lingerie, and swimsuit.. i see a lot of photoshoots of that kind in the photoshoot section.. im just hesitant to join since i have no idea on model photography..

if there are strobes availabe in the studio, will my internal flash do?

Seriously suggest that you read up more on these subjects first.

And for studio strobes, they are usually triggered via a RF or IR trigger mounted on the flash hotshoe.

u have picked three of the toughest types of model photography that you can ever achieve.

Glamour while it is not as tough as the next two, you need to have an eye for detail and attention.

Lingerie and swimsuit...very tough. Emphasis is on the human body. Poses must complement the outfits. What is the type of image you wanna create, how do you want to portray the model are amongst other things you have to think about before, during and after the shoot during PP.

learn from the best in PP. Flipfreak, Kongo are some of the best ones around. Go for shoots. Start with fashion first. See if you still like it. Post in PP. Learn. Very long road and very tough one. But if you have the passion and seek to improve...then... ;)

Hi Markpacman;

welcome to CS...we're glad that you joined us!

yes, as they say for model photography...the external flash is a "MUST"
if u only depend in ur build in flash the subject image may come "too hard" and suppose to be soft for more variant.

Cheers!!!

on a budget?

Try shooting cats... :bsmilie:
They're free, and harder to 'control' than human models.
