I have not used any of the lenses as I am not into wildlife at the moment. Perhaps you can do a search for pictures taken with this lens.

IIRC, it's MF, right??

May not be easy to catch action shots....

The A100 is AF and i would need a AF 500 mm lens as well thanks

The Sony/Minolta 500mm reflex is AF. The Nikon and canon ones are MF.

Then get the sony one.

If you want image samples, try searching flickr, or just google "Sony Minolta 500mm reflex"

There is a review for this lens:

Sony 500mm f8 SAL-50080 Lens Review

Contain sample pictures taken with this lens.

Or... You can also see one picture taken by one of Alpha user here.

Great review can you tell me if this would be great for surfing photos Where there is so much happening and changing of distance as i think the f8 may hold me back on buying this lens

Well... In Singapore, there isn't that much wind to surf, however I do expect people would surf in a sunny day and at the beach. Which mean, not in a dark or low light situation. So, I think, F8 is not a problem.

I think, there are other lenses that support 500mm zoom from Sigma or Tamron, but if I remember correctly, they are quite heavy.

Unfortunately, surfing is done in low to very low light as well ,mainly due to cyclonic conditions as of late, and causes great surf, as i already use the 300mm with good results, i do need to get that in your face pic ,so maybe i should consider the sigma, thank you.

OT: Can you please try adding some punctuation? It would make your sentences easier to read.

If you're worried about f/8, just try taking shots with your existing 300mm at f/8. At ISO 200-400, what's your shutter speed like?

Thank-you for your comments, I will try your suggestions.
