hi guys,

i bought 2sets of the mentioned last December, but both died early Feb. its only less than 2mths. it still doesnt work after replacing new batteries for both sets.

do you face this problem.

also, if u have a working set, if it is possible, can we meet up so i can test with ur set, i need to confirm if it is the 2 transmitters spoil or the 2 receivers.

thanks.

hey man i'm using the same thing, my receiver dosent work too, i don't mind meeting up to check it out, i'm fine if we can meet up somewhere in the west side, that'd be best. dont' know if the batteries are dead or the receiver is dead on my set though, hope it can be fixed.

hi guys

need to check something else, ken is having the older model PT04, whereas mine are both PT04M. are they compatible, ie trigger each other?

i have the pt04tm bought from JL photo.. using 2 AAA batts and no pc sync socket.

pm me i'll see if i can arrange a meetup with you.

btw my friend had another version of the china triggers.. bought from OP, using cr2 batts, with pc sync socket. his trigger can set off my receiver (but the settings must be "opposite") while my trigger can't set his receiver off.

me and a lot of my friends have been using PT-04 TM V2 for months. still going strong.
some few misfires but tolerable. could be handling why it got spoilt so fast. Mine is always inside the box(orig packaging) and always turn-off when stored.

if possible, can we arrange to meet up so i can test my units with urs? at ur convenient of cause.

I've the same prob.... I'm not in SG now though.
I've used it for about 6-8 months if I rem correctly.. changing the batts didn't solve the prob, so I guess its dead.

Oh, mine's the PT04 though

cheap does not mean good. Good does not mean cheap. It feel crap having pay for something that fails within a few month. QC fail big time. MAKE IN CHINA = MAKE TO FAIL :(

I'm using 2 PT04 receiver + and 1 transmitter for many months, probably close to 9 months I think.

I've changed the CR2 3V batteries in the receivers and also the 23AE 12V in the transmitter, and they are working fine - except that they are physically fragile - they won't survive too many topples... and sure enough, one of the swivels broke off when my light stand toppled, along with the Umbrella/flash holder...

Electrically, my set is working fine. But I do know that these things are mostly hit or miss and they aren't built to last, like my given replacement cycle for these things are as short as 4 to 6 months max, and I'm amazed that they could survive till now, though physically broken, they are still running. They do fail to fire or sync properly when you're at some particular locations - where the surround structures may serve to function like faraday cages and channel your radio signals away or severely weaken them.

Anyways, I've changed the system to a new one that integrates the Umbrella / Flash holder with the Receiver, and it runs on AAA batteries at the receiver, and uses the 23AE in the transmitter. (transmitters need high voltage) which goes for $65 a pop

I compare that to the system I'm using, it's actually cheaper by $15 a set

PT04 T/R set = $45
Umbrella / Flash holder for light stand = $35 (GT=$80)

Of these, there are models that fit directly onto the ball head of a tripod, this allows you to position lights at very unique positions, very low or very high, or very uneven surfaces, which I consider them to be a boon when doing location shooting, or even hang them around, like what you can do with a gorilla pod, and at the same time, attach a umbrella.

I bought 3 sets of those - anyways - the disadvantage is that there's only 1 channel  anyways, there's no interference incidents so far, and the usage of AAA batteries simplifies logistics and I can use rechargeables...

My PT-04 reciever failed as well! There's no light indicating from the power LED even if its on. Anybody knows where to get a replacement besides tagotec?

would be interested to know what product you're using, or better still where to get them in Singapore. I'm also interested in a PT04 replacement system with umbrella stands and flash holder. My PT04 works 60% of the time and is still working after 2 years. But that 40% downtime really bugs me.

The Phottix Tetra (PT-04 II) 4-Channel Wireless Flash Trigger with 2 Receivers which i am selling has very good QC. Most of China products failed were mainly due to poor QC done at the factory side. BTW, phottix has ISO standard for the factory.

There is a 6 months warranty period, 1 to 1 exchange for a new unit.

Mine still working fine since June 2008.

mine working fine for 3-4months already...few times it didnt respond but most of the time it does its job. :)

bought it a two weeks back. love how it does the job for the kind of price you are paying..

By the way can i get some confirmation that this works with the 430EX and it doesn't just shoot 1 time ..
