Panasonic Flashgun FL-220 for LX-3

WOW! You cannot believe this. I wrote to Panasonic on where to purchase DMW FL220 for Lumix LX3, they called me today and ask me what is the model number again and mentioned where I found this piece of information and what is FL220?

They need to check with HQ.

BTW, FL220 cost about USD159.99. Available at wolfcamera.com.

Anyone knows where to get FL220 locally, please share.

Ok. They called and the person who called me is pretty helpful and friendly. This is internal news (but now not anymore), even the dealers do not know yet. FL220 will be launched in March (no date yet) in Singapore and will retail at list price S$299! WOW! :bigeyes:

Hi! Is Olympus FL36 more bulky than FL220 from Panasonic? If too bulky, it looks funny on a company LX3...

Yes, it is definitely bulkier but if the price range is similar, I would choose function over form..

Olympus FL-36 vs FL220

FL-36 can swivel and bounce but FL220 cannot. Since FL220 is direct flash, you may want to add a diffuser which i am not aware of any ready one available whereas you can buy a Omnibounce for Olympus FL36 for about $30 or less. You may have to diy one for the FL220.

GN36 more reach then GN22... provided you need that additional reach that is.

FL-36 is more bulky on LX3. Ok if you just mount it for few shot but carrying it around for an entire evening... Think again.

FL-36 has better price to performance then FL220. (once agian depend on whether you need that addition performance)

Certainly FL-36 if you had intention to venture into 4/3 or M4/3 system in near future.

Thanks for the detailed explanation. Appreciated. For S$299, I will not buy. Now asking friend in Tokyo to check local price and send to Singapore. You are right, FL36 is a better buy but if use a a compact LX3, it looks weird...

Maybe not... The additional pc of lens plus adaptar tube in front might just counter balance the flash...:think:

Something to add... FL220 is a new and pretty small flash. You may wish to check whether it can cover the range of your wide angle lens before you buy...
