Singapore, Singapore
I went to the famous Man Shing in Hong Kong. Lotsa websites recommended this store but I found out that prices aren't exactly cheaper there.

Also lotsa people tell me to avoid buying from Nathan Road.

So what's your take?

i don't know lol i go ask my cuz who just got his D90 in Hk as he works there

hey, i suggest nathan road! i bought my lens from there, just one of those random shops. Man shing is quite expensive! i went to HK from 27 Dec 08 - 1 Jan 09. In fact the hotel I stayed at - Hotel Kimberly at Tsim Sha Tsui has a camera shop at the lobby. They sell many 1st hand and 2nd hand lens. You can go check it out. The people there are friendly and they speak English too!

I was there in HK last Monday looking at lenses too. Waste of time. Singapore prices is just as competitive despite GST.

!!! what a coincidence. i was staying at the same hotel during the same period. got a manfrotto 190cxpro4 with a head. costed me $390plus for the legs. yes, that shop carried quite a bit of lens. the folks there seemed reliable. :)

stayed at kimberley and bought from there during christmas period too....very good service

as for lenses at manshing ...some models are comparatively cheaper e.g. the 80-200mm was much cheaper than the shops here (few hundreds).

bottom line is, do your homework before buying from HK. e.g. 70-200 and 18-200 are cheaper in sg.

b+w filters are cheaper in HK too

If possible go mongkok area, it's a paradise for photography stuff. Lots of shops to compare the prices. But beware, make sure you check the Lens thoroughly before you make payment.
Cause I almost purchased a Lens with a small strand of hair inside the lens element.
Lucky my friend was there to check for me.

oooo. mongkok area the lens around THAT area itself is competitive and they're all pretty high. I bought my Tamrom 17-50 at Nathan road at 2600 including a UV filter? But ManShing and most of the shops I went to in mongkok was about 2800 - 3000 not including anything? The hotel I was staying was selling the lens at 2500 but they ran out of stock for nikon mount. >.<
