Tried CLS with 3 flashes this morning and failed miserably (I guess I'm not a flasher? haha!). So, I fell back to my comfort zone: natural lighting :bsmilie:

Oh Hai Butties!

GREAT SHOTS FEB!

Feb, a little nugget of info

When you introduce ONE flash, you make your job at least THREE TIMES more complicated/difficult. When you introduce THREE Flash units, you make your job ... ?

Not saying you can't shoot food with speedlights, but because you do not have modelling lights, which means you can't assess where light is falling, it's intensities and ratios (in real life) and light spread, plus unless you work with very specific light modifiers, you're essentiall working almost totally BLIND and with little or entirely no control over the light when you try to shoot something as complicated as food with speedlights and a basic diffuser or reflector.

Ask the guys who went the two rounds at Sinful Melvados how difficult it was shooting food with speedlights.

Also, it takes a good foundational understanding of light, to be able to control it. Again, not saying you don't understand the fundamentals of light, given the high level of your work, but still, it's not a topic that most photographers understand even though it's one of the most crucial to all forms of conventional photography.
