are all these HDRs done using photomatix or another HDR software? thanks. :)

Nice pics you did. France is a very nice place. Went to Angouleme & Toulon but too bad, not 'armed' with the better cam yet.:thumbsup:

Hi Guys,

Appreciate the comment very much and again liking my work.

Yea, France is indeed a very beautiful place. There is many place that just din bring along my cam, especially running on the Alps.

Hi JT,

All these HDR's were done with Photomatix and further fine tweaking at Photoshop.

Thank you for viewing again.

Hi there Guys,

Sorry to missout the reply to you guys. Please find below on how I normally process it:

"Actually there is couple of ways to make a HDR. The actual and correct way is to combine 3 or more shots with different exposure and merge into one with using HDR s/w and so on. Preferable AEB +/-1 or 2 depends on the situation, lighting!

Normally to bring out more details on the shot, I usually check my histogram and make sure it is slighty skewed to the left, meaning under-expose a little and then shot it under AEB +/-1 under and save it in RAW file.

Then, prior to merge; check the 3 pic and do some minor fine tune at photoshop; curve (inverted S) and little of brightness and contrast. Not too much of contrast cause this wil cause halo-ing between the higher contrast area and the lighter ones. Need to be careful.

Then, merge the 3 pic using Photomatix and perform Tone Mapping treatment to the pic. Below is my setting for your reference (photomatix s/w yea!):

Strength: 85~95
Color Saturation: 75~85
Light Smoothing. Medium to High
Luminosity: 7~9

Tone, White Pt: 2.5~3.5%
Tone, Balck Pt: 2.5~3.5%
Gamma: 1.4~1.5 (if pic merged is dark then need to boost up more)

Color, Temperature: 0 (depends on the mode or weather during shootng day)
Color, Saturation Highlight: 0~5
Color, Saturation Shadow: 0~-5

Micro, Micro Contrast: 8~9 (very important as it will this setting brings out the detail of the pic)
Micro, Micro Smoothing: 2~4 (depends on what you prefer)

Saturation/Highlights, Highlights Smoothing: 25 (optimum)
Saturation/Highlights, Shadows Smoothing: 20~30
Saturation/Highlights, Shadows Clipping: 20~30

Then Process your work and then save it. You may want to save it under TIFF file but I normaly save it under Jpeg. ha ha.

Then reload again on Photoshop to perform fine tune again on Shadows and Highlights if you find too much of dark area/shadows and etc. Boost up the Saturation (10~15) and some tuning on Curve setting.

Viola! Your work is done. Some of the steps is not properly explain but I try to get it all in but still depends on the person mood or feeling when doing the processing. I hope above helps and good luck! Practise makes perfect though my work is still far from perfect but still learning.

Cheers! ;)

Wow.. I like #4. It's fantastic!!

An interesting perspective.. But I personally prefer a more natural feel for the rest of the photos.. That's just me though..:)
