stop eating so much instant mee, is bad for you

otherwise you can dedicate this song to it sooner or later

Goodbye to you
Goodbye to everything I thought I knew
You were the one I loved
The one thing that I tried to hold on to

been eating instant mee since small. In a way can say it helped me to save for Poly as well as my camera and mac. Now saving for SIM degree.

So far have managed to avoid taking loans for anything and i really sleep better knowing that.

learn how to cook. it will definitely cost more, but more nutritious and less unhealthy.

it is actually comparable if you shop wisely. it is very tempting to eat instant mee all the time here, it is very convenient, and relatively cheap (20p per pack), but there are some things you should scrimp on, and some things that you shouldn't, at least in the long run.

I still can find $2-3 food ard my Toa Payoh market. If really hungry in town area then $2 McChicken is e best deal.

Long John chicken meal used to be $1.99, my friend!!! How I miss those days.
Yeahhh... I really can't bear to fork out the money to buy a fast food meal these days... they are ridiculously overpriced! If fast food is junk food, this has got to be the most expensive 'junk' around!!! :bsmilie:
I eat fast food really once in a very blue moon and try to utilise those discount coupons... and feel that it's like a treat... :sweatsm:

But $1.99 chicken rice? Errr... these are few are far between and if need to travel to eat $1.99 chicken rice, the transport cost will make it not worth it.

Wah friend... you really super budget leh... source for cheaper instant noodles than Maggi?!? I normally select from whatever instant noodles is having a good 'promotion' at the supermarket. Not necessarily cheapest... but much cheaper than before promo.

It's really good you avoid taking loans... but instant noodles in the long run can be detrimental to health. You may have financial constrains, but do take care of your health too.

Then you lucky lor...
Haha... yeah, I usually go for the $2 McChicken too if no other food around. Even that, I feel the pinch! $2 for a measly burger... :(

Hey, this Koka brand claims to be msg free.
Do you think this really true??

cook your mee in the soup base but pour out the soup and eat as dry mee, or else can add some tomato sauce for some favour.
also can cook together with crab meat and other various steamboat stuff.

mate. saving for short term goals like your poly and your camera and your computer < long term goals like.. I don't know. health?

trust me. indomie is known as every international student's best friend in Australia but even I try to stay away from it owing to how unhealthy it is. so what if I save $2 on a meal. medical costs to repair my ailing kidneys/liver will probably be much more than the $2 I saved on meals all those years ago.

my mum gave me this nugget of advice before I left for Australia. and that is "it's good to save but there are things that one can't be stingy about. food is one of them." yes, nobody is asking you to go get a 6 course meal for lunch and 12 course meal for dinner. learn how to cook, and you'll be surprised at how much healthier your food will turn out to be, and your body will thank you in the long run. that is what I got out of studying/living overseas, where a normal bowl of wanton mee would cost you anywhere from $8 to $12, depending on where you go to.

Haha... oh yeah, i trust you... I know all about that Indomie thing. We would buy them in boxes and share among the housemates!

We did cook too... we had "dinner group" where we took turns to cook for everyone but that was only several nights a week. Sometimes I made other quick meals but when time was tight... it's Indomie... 2 mins and a meal to go! :sweatsm:

For lunch, I usually made sandwiches, which is cheap to do in Aus... their bread and cheese and ham are way cheaper than Singapore. I tried this sandwich thing here but realised it's not really a very budget meal here... some things I miss about Aus... of course... cheap and great milk! Haha.

Sometimes when proper food supplies run out... it's also instant noodles to the rescue!

Actually I wonder if 'cooked' food is really healthier than instand noodles? If you use fresh food, then I would think it's healthier... but much of 'cooked' food also comes from processed food or with msg. When you add seasoning or sauces to your fresh food, is that not msg? And you could add a lot more than that little packet of seasoning for a bowl of instant noodles. And lots of food are processed... all canned foods, things like sausages... and lots of food are with preservatives... think pasta sauce. So... well... I think the best diet is still to eat all things in moderation!

My place at Toa Payoh is selling 2 vege and 2 meat (for example you can choose meat from a whole piece of deep fried fish or pork belly or curry chicken) for only $2.20.

This mix rice place is rather good as it's not oily. I am a fussy person with food and I found this place is rather good when you are on a super tight budget.

Not neccesary. Cigarettes are addictive, and their high correlation to lung disease have strong evidence... that's why AVA have to put warning. Maggi Mee is not addictive (at least not in the long-term) and there has been no strong evidence linking it to any diseases or ailments either... although there has been a few problem cases from Maggi Mee eaters.

Interesting.
After seeing your post, I got an idea to start a list of cheap food places in singapore.
Please post at my thread where your cheap food place is. Thanks!

See if you have friends from Indonesia, then get back a carton of Indomie from there. Or, you can go Batam and try your luck. Problem is, if your wife/gf keep seeing your passport stamped by Batam, telling her you there to buy instant noodles may not be very convincing, lah. :p

But seriously folks, fast food not so cheap lah. Cannot be cheaper than hawker food (which incidentally, to me is also called fast food - asian style). While prices may be the same, I have noticed that the portions at some stalls have gone noticibly smaller.
