I'll be helping my poly classmate shoot her wedding lunch in a restaurant tomorrow but only have a 50mm and 17-40. Experienced wedding shooters kindly enlighten if these 2 lenses are enough for coverage? Thanks! :)

2 L lens and a 580EX flash... looks like you are set to go.

Backup batteries!!!

Good enough. I've shot a wedding using just a 17-35mm lens.

Just make sure to have enough batteries & memory cards.

No problems if you are okay with getting up close and personal or the location is small or party is small.

I`d advise having a longer zoom range or even a 2nd photographer if the number of people is quite large. I myself am doing some shooting tmw evening at town for quite a large party and am bringing a tele zoom.

Well i don't know how many people or how large the area is. Used to own the 70-200 f/4 but sold it due to under utilisation, only events.

Yeah only the luncheon. It's a 9-course. Shooting in jpeg.

I tink your main constraint would be your memory.... but since you shoot jpeg, should be ok.... remember to save a couple of shots for possible "after-event" action.

Back up body for your consideration

Haha thanks for all the valuable feedback and suggestions guys. I shot mainly just using my 17-40 and it's especially useful when taking large group shots. :)
